Has anyone brought up the notion of perfect information? This is an interesting thread. As I was reading through the posts, I was thinking about democratic versus totalitarian governments. In a democratic government, information spreads more quickly in my opinion. In a totalitarian government, it do...

You also conveniently omitted other Hitler aggression like the invasions of Denmark, Norway, Holland, Belguim, Yugoslavia, most of Roumania, Bulgaria and Greece (in conjunction with Italy). You don't invade and conqueror all those countries plus the Soviet Union unless you want to conquer and contr...

If I'm not misstaken there weren't just Baltic peoples in the old Prussian territories. Archeologists have found old Germanic tribe remains there and along the Vistula. They have also been found in the Carthpatian mountains. The origin of the Poles was futher east. The were pushed west by mongolian ...

I think that the Prussian Claims Society should put forth their claims to the European courts. 1 to 2 million people died during the expulsion and they lost everything that they had. As far as we know, there was never any formal documentation giving Prussia to Poland. Stalin, just took what he wante...

Hello Morden I have the LAH and Wiking books by Rupert Butler in the series and I totally concur with Halder. SAVE YOUR MONEY. These books are riddled with inaccuracies and not worth the paper they are printed on. I had , unfortunately bought several books in this series before I read the first one...

Némedi, I wish I could tell you more about my hungarian relatives. Apparently, my great grandfather kept in touch with some of his relatives in the old Austrian-Hungarian Empire. Unfortunately the death of certain relatives and the dismembermemt of the Old Empire has left us completely clueless as t...

I've been thinking for a while now that Germany may not have gone to war in the west, but would have focused on the east. My reasons for thinking that this might have been a possible scenario are: 1. Long history of conflict between German States and Poland. One could argue that this has gone on for...

How to find old best WWII movies portraying the German side?
I enjoyed the threads on the best and worst movies portraying the German side. So my question is how do you find them for purchasing? I've searched for some like "A Time to Love and Die," "Sgt. Steiner," and others, but I haven't had much luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

What if England and France never declared war on Germany?
After Germany invaded Poland, what would have happened if England and France never declared war on Germany? Sometimes I think that nothing would have happened. Would Germany still have been inspired to conquer Denmark and Norway? Would it have considered fighting the Russians? This post was inspired...

Information on the Steiner Group 1945
I've read tidbits on the Steiner Group north of Berlin in 1945 from Ryan and Beevor's books. Does anyone have additional sources that mention what formations it contained, etc.? Where it was exactly? From what I read, I got the impression that it was never operational.
Thanks.
Thanks.
