Personally i don't think he fought in berlin at all. i think he made that up to strengthen his position with others for power and leadership in the organization. Possibly Obrlt. Erich Thomas 2/jg53 claimed a B-17 NNE of Balogna that day 2 others claimed but that one possibly fits between Bologna and Ferrara.

sorry i mean i ran across a pic in my comp of one i have on file, couple soldiers sittin down and a gewehr 98 with box magazine leaning against the trench, taken on eastern front in ww2. didnt know if you want specifically a k98.
