Hi all,
dear Prosper, dear Prevot
a great book, indeed. It's easy to write a blood-freezing book about those criminals, it's hard to write a good, gripping, historical book. Ingrano did it

Warszawa (Warsaw) - Ochota on 8-9 IX 1939
Hi all. I've just read that attacks of German 4. Panzer-Div. on Warsaw launched on 8th and 9th September 1939 ended up with heavy tank losses. German unit was trying to take the city as soon as possible, and armoured spearhead was cut off from it's infantry. As a result, the Germans lost about 120 t...

South Africans and the Warsaw Rising - any hint?
Hi to all. I am writing a short (ca. 18k characters) extract about South African share in delivering munitions to fighting Warsaw in VIII-IX'44. I've found some books, including latest Neil Orpen's work. However, I am still looking for some other sources or monographs. Have any of you any idea? Pozd...

Re: Luftwaffe vs Swiss air force?!
I didn't mean to insult neither You, nor Romania, Florin  That is why I meant writing "complicated". The Romanian state was forced to act against Polish citizens in 1939 by the III Reich. Romanian citizens did much help to us, especially to our fighter pilots that later flew in the B...

Re: Luftwaffe vs Swiss air force?!
Whatever would we have done, we were simply to weak to stop the German invasion, left alone the Soviet back-stab. I meant only to show, that we had also our own example of selling aircraft to our enemies-to-be. Question: "why" would open a long and sad topic. For example: Polish Staff and ...

Re: Luftwaffe vs Swiss air force?!
Thanks for the info on this, gents. It's an aspect of the conflict I'd been pretty much unaware of. I think a few countries came to regret some of their previous aircraft sales - from what I remember a few Hurricanes ended up with Axis satellite forces? And am I completely confused here or did Germ...

Hungarian soldiers around Warsaw 1943-1944
Hi to all. I am still trying to finish my work about Polish guerilla movement eastwards from Warsaw (Radzymin-Wolomin-Tluszcz-Wyszkow). I am repeatedly coming across informations, that Armia Krajowa (Home Army) was neither gaining nor capturing, but receiving firearms from Hungarian units in this ar...

Log-in problems
Hi to all. At first I wanted to write to someone from the HQ, but - maybe some of you had the same problem as I had today? So: I entered the Feldgrau site after some time - my last time here was approx. when I posted my second post about Beniaminów Fort. Today, I tried to log-in again. I moved to th...

Re: New digital movie - Warsaw
Hi.
This film shows neither destruction nor the rebuilding of Warsaw.
Made in cooperation with Polish Air Force and the Museum of Warsaw Rising, shows how Warsaw looked in January 1945. Every single appearance is based on Soviet air reconnaissance photos from late 44 and early 1945.
Pozdrawiam

Re: Beniaminów Fort (Poland) - who, why, when?
A hint, if anybody is trying to answer my question - Beniaminów was one of several medium-size POW camps in this area - POWs from the Ostfront were kept there.

10 IX 1939 - which unit bombed Wolomin?
Hi to all, again. 10 IX 1939 Wołomin ("Wolomin" - if your machine doesn't display the letter "ł", the "soft l") was bombed by some German planes. The text I have read states, that they were flying eastwards to drop their bombs somewhere else, but they were "provoke...

Beniaminów Fort (Poland) - who, why, when?
Hi to all. While writing about something I came across an information, that old Beniaminów Fort was still used during WWII. My question would be: who, why and when? So far I know, that it was used for purposes of training by some Pioniere units (Polish text states: "saperzy", and "Pio...

Faroe Islands - ever attacked?
Hi to all. My question would be whether Faroe Islands have ever been attacked by either planes of naval forces of the III Reich? Basically, I know what did happen to the islands during the war - British seizure just after the invasion of Denmark (they have even built an airfield there) and returning...
