Re: Feldpostnummer 20656 help!
The dates are an approximate time frame for when the number was first used, not start & end dates.Steiner_1970 wrote: I guess the dates refer to who used the number in the mentioned timeslot?

Re: Looking for good books after Stalingrad
Stalingrad - The Death Of The German Sixth Army On The Volga by French Maclean (2 Volumes) - gives a day by day account of the battle. Good for an overview but not in-depth.

Re: Rammed!
Thank you for that little bit of information on U-18. I have a citation set belonging to a crewman who served with U-Flottille Lohs pre-war and on U-18 at the start of the war.

Re: Looking for good books after Stalingrad
Stalingrad: How the Red Army Triumphed by Michael K Jones is a good book to read. Plus I would second the recommendation for the Leaping Horseman books - probably the best books on the subject matter.

It is the B-Dienst (Beobachtungsdienst) - the Naval code breaking organisation. If you do a Google search for B-Dienst there is a fair bit of information available.

Re: Unit History Reviews
Wasn't sure whether to post this as a seperate question or to place it here seeing as it deals with individual units so if it needs to be moved, please feel free to do so. I'm looking at buying a few German-language dedicated unit books and I was wondering if anyone can tell me please if the followi...

I believe the last bit just means that he joined Feldersatz-Btl 73 which would of been a field training unit preparing soldiers who were due to go into the front line.
