Re: Abwehr Records
Without knowing the reference on what records they were talking about, I do know a bit about the Abwehr records held in the US. I seem to have come across some of the from time to time at NARA but many of them were held by the CIA after the war and eventually were declassified and turned over the NA...

Re: First time author question
Richard- Thanks for the tips, I am old enough and young enough not to be phased by rejection, but I just didnt want to have to send proposals to a dozen publishers. Seems the hardest part of the process is telling a publisher who the book will appeal to and who will buy it, especially when you see s...

Re: First time author question
Yes, working title is Stabia -German aerial intelligence on the eastern front . There are a great deal of books on the Luftwaffe, even down to unit levels of the recon units, but very little to nothing on how the Germans conducted aerial photographic intelligence, operated the organization, used the...

First time author question
I finally am about done with my research and have begun putting the meat of my book together. The hard part seems to be which publishers I should push my book to. How does one decide? Pick 3 and send it to them? What are the major issues a first time author faces with publishers? I am under no illus...

Re: German situation maps on this site
Although I initiated the project with the intent to scan in the maps and continue to post them via Jason on his site, the project his slowed considerablly and has become a bit more work than have time for. This said I have asked Jason reomve the maps as of June 1st. I am not planning on setting up a...

Re: 281st Assault Gun Brigade
Martin- Wonderful, this is exactly what I was looking for. I am researching the 299th ID, and only knew that the 281st directly supported and was positioned behind the division on 22 June 1944 when Bagration kicked off. May I ask the source for the information so I can properly cite it in the future...

Re: NARA price increase
NARA "makes" a fair amount from the microfilms/DVD. With the looming budget cuts coming and already in effect in my federal agency, NARA surely will be taking a major cut. I assume this hike -and I am guessing cost for other services- was desinged to help fill the gaps. Still... double?

Re: Use of maps for diploma thesis?
Gaius- I am sorry I didnt reply before... no excuse sir! Yes, as the maps are US public domain, without any copyright, you can use them in any manner you wish. as for how to cite the records, go to www.nara.gov and in the search area look up how to cite NARA records. Pretty simple. If you cant find ...

Re: von Rohden collection
I spoke to a former forum member, well known in the Luftwaffe areas but decided to leave this and the AHF site for various reasons, anyway he said the vR collection wasnt very worthwhile. I however found several nuggets when reviewing the rolls at NARA. Its not my money, but I say give it a try.

Re: Lage West and Lage Frankreich
If you mean the unit records, yes you can order them on DVD. I guess you would need to dig into the unit records for Corps level units to see if they mention maps. I have a ton of requests to scan in other maps, but seems like few folks actually order them (like the Normandy set!).

Re: Lage West and Lage Frankreich
Yes same sort I have been working on (they exist for this period and area), but there will likely be black and white maps in some of the unit records at NARA.

Re: Partisanenbekaempfungs-Staffel
Kristian- This is wonderful in the regards of historical content, and personally very exciting for me :!: . There is little data on air units assigned to conduct air recon/support during partisan warfare, and in the book I am writing on German aerial photo reconniassance I am devoting a section to t...
