http://i110.photobucket.com/albums/n88/Hagen_01/ostmedailleverleihungsgfc0.jpg Hard to see but the dark line, look to the north of Finland and you can pick up the dark line marked ND, this line marks the cut off, everywhere to the right (east) of the line qualified for the Ost Medal. Hope this help...

Dear members have I asked a stupid or obvious question ? Not a stupid question at all, someone will come along who can be of more help with the uniform, altough it's not a police uniform. As for your Uncles medals he is wearing the SA Sports Badge (Bottom) DRL Sports Badge (middle) and what appears...

If not West Wall maybe Life Saving medal, as that ribbon is yellow with white stripes. The center color appears to light to be the Red Cross medal. He also appears to be wearing the ribbon for the Ost medal in his tunic buttonhole, hard to see though in this picture.
