Rottenfuhrer Gerardus Mooyman
Is Mooyman still alive? I am currently reading the book entitled "The Bedford Boys" about a group of U.S. soldiers of the 29th Division landing at Normandy. The pictures in the book show a Waffen-SS RKtraeger (who I believe to be Mooyman) and the caption says that he was killed by one of t...

The Old Days
Herr Doktor, You are so right about the fading of the veterans after 61 years. With each years Weihnachtsfest greeting cards I find that more and more of my Deutsche friends have passed on to next life. It is sad to see the end of an era coming so quickly. The time where one could contact and speak ...

DF Reunions
Herr Doktor, The DF reunions were always a great way for an amateur historian like me to meet the guys we spend so much time reading about. I actually got started years ago by finding a name and town (in Germany) in the back of a Time-Life series book on WWII. It listed Otto Weidinger (deceased) and...

Stenwedel RK
Herr Doktor, My apologies for the confusion on the Stenwedel RK. I attended several DF Regimental reunions in Lenggries during the 80's and early 90's and was fortunate enough to make friendships that have lasted to this day. It was always a thrill to go to the reunions where you could meet and spea...

Karlheinz Gustavsson query
Herr Doktor, Thanks for the input on Gustavsson's status re: the RKT. I was very surprised to hear about Stenwedel's RKT, he was very condescending about Gustavsson and now it appears that he and Gustavsson share the same boat. As you note, Gustavsson was still a very brave and able combat soldier, ...

RKTRaeger Karlheinz Gustavsson
I find Gustavsson listed in a number of sources as an RKT yet several years ago heard from several people that he was never really awarded the RKT. I even got that word from a Das Reich vet RKTraeger (Albert Stenwedel) who was not very complimentary of Gustavsson. Can anyone help me with this?
