Re: Women In Panzer Uniform?? Comments Please!

Whilst it is good to let your imagination run riot once in a while, this is almost certainly a "girlfriend" photo.

Re: HaEn's book

Hi Nico I have the address of Jan M.'s son and will be writing to him this week to order my own copy of the book. Send me a personal message asap and I will mention you in my letter and ask about the son's preferred payment method etc... I received my copy of Lohmeyer's booklet directly from his and...

Re: HaEn's book

Hello HaEn Glad to hear that you are going to stick around for a bit longer and share your experiences with us. A Dutch Wikinger who lived in the UK post war recently had his war experiences privately published posthumously by his son. A Landstorm Nederland veteran Rolf Lohmeyer (German)self-publise...

Re: „Nord“ and „Prinz Eugen“ May 2008 Veteran Reunion

Yet Das Reich surrendered mainly to US Forces. Perhaps he evaded capture only to be picked up by the British or maybe he came to live in Britain for some other reason. A friend of mine here in Scotland served in the Leibstandarte for most of the Russian campaign but ended up in SS-Regt "Falke&q...

It would appear that Bild has removed the photo from their article. No doubt this will be to prevent anyone thrying to identify the grave too easily.

Re: SS-Personalveränderungsblatt from January 1945

I received a copy of this document from the Bundesarchiv in Berlin-Lichterfelde after much huffing and puffing and who, why, wherefore etc.....Presumably it is much less hassle obtaining this stuff in the USA than at the Bundesarchiv, which is, shall we say, not very "customer focused".

Re: „Nord“ and „Prinz Eugen“ May 2008 Veteran Reunion

Interesting that a veteran of the Nord Division lives in the UK; perhaps he later served in another unit and was captured by the British as were most of the Waffen-SS veterans I know(or knew) who came to live in the UK. Heard of veterans from the Leibstandarte, Totenkopf, Polizei Div., Wiking, Frund...

Re: Maxmilian Pokorny - "Horst Wessel"

I used to receive a Christmas card for him every year but none was received last year so it is possible that he is dead or ill (card was not returned by Austrian Bundespost).

Re: Titos partizans kiled the whole SS unit !

For details of Tito's atrocities in Slovenia at the end of the war see the excellent book "Slovenia 1945: Memories of Death and Survival After World War II" by John Corsellis and Marcus Ferrar. Here is one review of the book from Amazon: "Slovenia 1945 is a remarkable book, that uses ...

Re: Frundsberg Vet Dies

Having re-read this thread, I recall that a British legion Branch in Edinburgh had a former member of the Leibstandarte as a member and the Penicuik Branch had a former Wehrmacht POW as a member. They were former "enemy combatants" but, like anyone else, they could acquire associate member...

"Handschar", Izetbegovic and Beger

Hello Lars I also have Himmler´s Crusade by Chris Hale but can't really recommend it, besides the author behaved in a rather underhand manner when dealing with the Beger family (can't go into details on a public forum). I believe there is also some information on Beger in the book "The Master P...

"Handschar", Izetbegovic and Beger

Dr Beger war only with the Handschar Division for a short time in 1945 and was transferred to the Osttuerkische Waffenverband der SS shortly before the end of the war in Europe.

Haen or Tom! How is Haen's book doing? any news?

Have not been on Feldgrau site for ages (shame on me!) so I was not aware that HAEN had written/was writing a book. Great, aside from one private publication, I know of no other book from a Landstorm Nederland veteran.
