Hartmann Rank

Servus Andy,

You are right except the rank; Hartmann has got the rank "Major" already in the last weeks of the war.

Enigmatraffic

Hi Lorenz,

It caused quite a stir at the time because the role of the He59s and the small Air Sea Rescue surface craft of both sides was respected but, as you have said, the confirmation was via Enigma traffic and was conclusive.
...not anyone, but this one...

Resque-Services of the GAF

Hello Gents, first of all; mostly both sides respected resqueunits, water and/or air. And both sides resqued men, what nation they ever had been second, the Order to shoot them down by Churchill is true; but who cares? (right or wrong - my Country! And "vea victis") third, the painting of ...

Woman Will Be Your Ruin...

Bon Giorno Lazzaro,

Yours seems to be the better one, it is even not so "militaristic". And the house of Savoia - Woman had been their ruin; but it's not the only house..

at last...

Servus Calaski8123, sorry for being a bit late; >Any idea on the black armband and the sleeve badge< Yes I do and I hope it will be correct. It shows the well known old roman "FASCES" which where in the old days a sign of the might of roman laws. A bundle of rods with a sword or, mostly, a...

Spaziergang

Really, a nice photo, showing normal day during strange times!

Well, well taking a walk alongside decoration-windows showing each other the wunders of a big wunderful city! And who pays always for it?
-Correct, the sergants and civilians... - never the politcians!

Peace in our time, wasn't it?

Paris

Servus Modfos, Frontbuchhandlung = Front-bookshop // Front is the very same eng/ger. Maybe even a library, especilly for germans working in Paris in that time. 1942 had been very peaceful (relativly). The toothed wheel with the Swastika in it shows that this Shop/Library was organized by the DAF = D...

Fake or no fake

Christoph, don't think to bad about unknown people. From starring on a picture one can't say whether it is a fake or not. There are more than two handfull of reason why that special weapon is signed as it is. At least it looks like very old engraves, doesn't it? And when I wrote that this guy was (p...

Nonsens

Examble: The second and the third Bat fought in Afrika; the first could be in Sizilia for refreshment, and the Regstaff in Greece. It would be not the best Organization, but for a little time it could have been necessary. And in case, that no part of PzRegt 3 has fought in Afrika, that guy to whom ...

Explanation

OK, the third Batallion was Part of the PzRegt 3, ofcourse, but there has been no reason to order the Regimentalstaff to Afrika, too. Examble: The second and the third Bat fought in Afrika; the first could be in Sizilia for refreshment, and the Regstaff in Greece. It would be not the best Organizati...

Roman 3

Well, Gentlemen, it might possible that a German Soldier wouldn't do that, but a German Officer did it! (But sometimes a NCO (Feldwebel) could have a personnel weapon either) Because it was a personnel weapon of an Officer, and why shouldn't he do so? The number itself is easy to decleare: It means ...

Feind unterstützte seine starken Angriffe rittlings

Servus Peregrin,
I would say that You was reading wrong. "Rittlings" in this context is without sense. I'd say that it has to be "rücklings" - beyond - the street.....
