The novelist Raymond Chandler, himself a veteran of World War One, choose to equip his literary character Philip Marlowe with a Luger in one of his early novels - probably a war booty of 1918!

For the Heer, I'd have to say Panzer-Lehr. Panzer Lehr was never able to show it's full potential as the only fully armored Panzer Division. It had all of it's four Panzergrenadier-Battalions and the Combat Engineer Battalion equipped with APC's. Usually Panzer-Divisions had only one or two of it's...

My father served as Unteroffizier in an infantry regiment on the Eastern Front until September 1942 when he was wounded and discharged afterwards.
