Re: Rückzug/Joachim Ludewig
I saw this at a Barnes & Noble today, but I didn't look too closely. Apparently, from what I read in the introduction, it was published in German in 1994, after being prepared by several Bundeswehr officers, under the direction of Ludewig. I would expect it to be a very well-done study. I'll hav...

Re: Operation "Citadel", Photo Album, Volume 1: The South
I don't believe there was any plan for a volume 3. There was an intended text volume, and Franz Kurowski wrote it. JJF published it, and that completed the set, so far as I know. As to a reprint, don't ask JJF. Ask Stackpole, they are the ones likely to issue a softcover version, if they think there...

Re: Feldgrau Author: Charles Trang
I agree, it is a very nice book. It covers the 14. to the 38. Divisionen, with more detail for some units than for others. The coverage includes many photos most readers won't have seen before. I'm in the special position of having provided a number of photos for the book, as well as having visited ...

Re: Need info on part of Nordland - Artillery
"a.a. artillerie battalion" is not SS-Artillerie Regiment 11. It is SS-Flak Abteilung 11, as in anti-aircraft artillery battalion. What do you hope to learn about this formation?

Re: ONLY 1 (one)
I don't know if I can pick one book and really mean it. But I'll mention here In Good Faith volume 2 (the second half the history of the 4. SS-Polizei-Panzergrenadier Division), because it's packed full of detailed information about little-known battles and units. With the Old Breed remains the best...

Re: E-Book Plans of Authors & Publishers
I plan to get a Kindle Fire before long, and can better comment after that. However, I do know that Helion have started releasing ebook versions of their titles. Their won't be a reprint of my own co-authored For Rex & For Belgium, but there will be an e-version, probably next year. My next book...

Re: Ostuf Pehrsson, Battr.Führ. 3./ SS-A.R. 11 ???
Rinner was a medical doctor, from what I can see in John Moore's Führerliste. So listing him as an orderly officer must be incorrect. I can imagibne from my own job how some of this may happen. A certain quota must be reached, so somone is listed in a different position, or some report from higher u...

Re: Ostuf Pehrsson, Battr.Führ. 3./ SS-A.R. 11 ???
The documents must include some mix-ups. Hans-Gösta Pehrsson was wounded around January 17, 1944, and didn't return to service for a couple of months. So, in this case, the document meant to indicate 3./SS-PAA 11. I don't believe Pehrsson was wounded on October 30, 1944. So, it is likely another off...

Re: MP43/Stg44 - Div Nordland
The photos I've seen suggest that Nordland only received MP44 during the summer of 1944. They probably had some just in time for the Tannenberg Line fighting. Hans Gösta Pehrsson is seen with one in a photo taken during July 1944 in the Dünaburg area. Ellef Henry Rasmussen is seen with one next to h...

Re: Panzer Division Müncheberg
Flight in Winter is a heavily condensed translation of Thorwald's 2-volume German set. As mentioned above, it was released in 1951. I believe there was a Ballantine paperback edition published around 1965. There was certainly a Bantam paperback from around 1982, which was retitled Defeat in the East...

Re: Estonians in the Waffen-SS, Rolf Michaelis
I agree that Michaelis is hit and miss, but he always has little bits of insight that aren't found elsewhere. The Estonian book is a decent introduction to its subject, in particular because it makes clear the extent to which the Estonians didn't like the Germans, even as they worked alongside them ...

Re: Kriegsdauer/not Kriegsdauer, Nordland
Hi Lars, I've heard of several cases of Europaische Freiwillige who signed up for various periods of time, only to have this automatically changed to "duration of the war" without their having any say in the matter. For example, the Norwegian Ustuf. Richard Boeresen told me that this happe...

Re: Ostfront fans, more excellent Ostfront books are coming!
Guys Thanks for the info on Hinze's book. I was planning to get some of the Hinze's book like With the Courage of Desperation but I certainly wouldn't want purely academic books written in a textbook style (reminds me of John Erickson's Road to Berlin which I had and did not even complete reading i...

This subject is one of my favorites. I have some photographic material that may help, and I can get you in touch with friends of mine who can offer much more help. Let me know, if you are interested.
