I have no problem with the layout. And I understand it is translated from a German language book from some time ago. My criticism of the translation is that it is too translated. As I said this isn't a book for the casual reader of WW2 history so leaving some things alone is really OK. It adds a bit...

It sound like a Schiffer book, what with the literal translations, lack of proof reading, attempted translation of untranslatable German military terminology and jargon into English, lack of an index, bland, unattractive layout and presentation, etc., etc. --Lorenz I agree, Lorenz. Any one who is g...

Re: Book review
No. I was hoping for some more statistics such as this, but no.donwhite wrote:Schpam,
Does the text provide any detail about when and where the various Pz.Jag units served?
cheers
It didn't get any better as I read on either.

Well I bought this book and and through maybe 25% of it. I haven't gotten to the beginning of WW2 yet and am only through the beginnings of the Panzerjager unit and weapons pre-war development. It is an English translation of original German. IMO a little too much translation. For example they liter...

Steve, First, this being my first attempt at answering a question as opposed to asking one please bear with me. And if I get it wrong everyone please correct me. Second, a little nitpick. A PzIV is not a Tiger. A Tiger is a PzVI. Now to get to the meat of your questions. A typical panzer regiment at...

"Panzerjager Troops in World War II" recommended?
Would you all recommend "German Anti-Tank (Panzerjager) Troops in World War II" by Wolfgang Fleischer? Any opinions or comments? Thanks in advance.

This was around the end of June 1942. Just at the beginning of the summer 1942 offensives - Fall Blau, Operation Edelweiss, etc. I figured Jentz was right but I thought maybe there was something to the lexicon information that maybe was discovered after Jentz or I was interpretting incorrectly. Than...

Four companies in a Panzer Regiment?
I've been reading PanzerTruppen Vol. 1 by Jentz and I noticed something that seems inconsistent with information found at http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de. or lexikon-der-wehrmacht is inconsistent with Jentz. This seems to be true of other Panzer Regiments shown at the end of Jentz vol 1. Jentz s...
