Luftwaffe StuGs in Normandy?
Hi All,
Luftwaffe Feld Div 16 deployed a small number of StuG IIIG's in Normandy. As the Heer took over control of the LW Feld Div's in November '43, would the StuG crews have worn Luftwaffe or Heer uniforms?
I don't suppose I'd be lucky enough for anyone to have pics?
Cheers,
George.

Normandy - activities of Arthur Grimm PK cameraman
Hi,
Would anyone know what units Arthur Grimm photographed during the Normandy campaign? I am particularly interested in any Luftwaffe ground units he may have spent time with in June/July 1944.
Thanks,
George.

Meindl
Meindl began the war with the Gebirgsjäger (Heer). He parachuted into Narvik in 1940 and afterwards transferred to the Fallschirmjäger (Luftwaffe). He commanded the SturmRegiment on Kreta in 1941 and was seriously wounded. He recovered to command a Fallschirmjäger Kampfgruppe in Russia. He then form...

Aussie book shops
G'day Adam, May I suggest you dump the outlets you've listed? I have found what I believe to be the best Aviation/Military bookshop is NSW (Sydney), possibly in Australia. They have a huge range of books, videos, DVDs, prints, action figures etc. Some titles they import themselves and so are not ava...

82nd Airborne Panzerfausts
As I recall, the 82nd captured a large number of Panzerfausts in Normandy (several truck-loads?) and, after conducting comparitive trials against the Bazooka and Panzerschrecke, went on to use them in Market Garden. I believe Gen Gavin relates this story in his book. The Heer did not receive the fir...

FAR2
According to my sources, Major Franke was CO of FAR2 before Oberst Winkler. Major Franke commanded from 20 Dec 1943. Oberst Winkler commanded up till 3 Sep 1944. I'm sorry but I don't appear to have the "switch over" date.
Hope this helps.

Bombings in Spain
I too wish to send my deepest condolances and sympathy to all our Spanish friends. A tremendous tragedy.

Püppchen
Many Fallschirm units were issued with Püppchen. I don't know off hand if 3FJD or 5FJD had them during the Ardennes Offensive. Perhaps someone here can look into it?
If FJR9 had Püppchen, that might explain one being in La Gleize?
Cheers,
George.

So kaempfte Breslau?
Hello Doug,
I have been trying to decide if I should buy this book for some time now. My chief interest is the Fallschirmtruppe. Can you tell me if this book provides much detail on their part in the defence of Breslau?
Many thanks for any help you may be able to provide.

What about the Paras?
Halder, I like what I have seen of your work but I feel you are neglecting the role of the Fallschirmjäger. 3FJD, 5FJD and FJR6 played important parts in the German defence along with other units from II Fallschirmkorps. May I suggest the following sources? Books: "Die Deutsche Fallschirmtruppe...
