From what I've read, the Communists used the single-shot 14.5mm Russian anti-tank rifle as a long range sniper rifle during the Korean conflict.

Tolga's "Military Career of SS" website

I own "Armor Battles of the Waffen-SS" by Wili Fey and I just got done reading Barkmann's Ardennes accomplishments. I'm posting to say that I noticed that his website has the same words as the book does, very similar (if not exactly) to the book, and his website says the articles are copyr...

Rangers used magnesium grenades on D-Day to melt breech blocks together by dropping them down the barrel. In "Band of Brothers", they did the same thing but instead of magnesium grenades, they put plastic explosives down the barrel and set it off with potato mashers.
hope it helps

obscure Springfield rifle modification

In the current issue of WWII magazine.. it has an article on a Springfield 1903 rifle modification that had a Browning Automatic Rifle magazine inserted vertically from under the weapon where the original 5-round internal magazine would be. Any stats on this weapon?
cheers and thanks many

I think they did the same thing when WWI was over.. dismantle 'em and scatter 'em all to hell... I think they found the 800mm barrel off of the Dora railway gun or some other large caliber railway gun.

British Tornado radial engine

Does anyone have any information on this engine? From what I've read it sounded like a massive engine... I dont think it was installed in any aircraft though.

On the Achtung Panzer! website, it says that the Czech tanks kept their MG37 machine guns in the tanks. I guess the caliber was 7.92mm, could be wrong.
hope this helps

I think Volksturm were ad-hoc conscripts, much like the British Home Guard. Volksgrenadiers actually had some sort of military training and were issued standard (K98, MP-40, etc.) weapons while Volksturm fought with whatever they could scrounge or they had old, outdated weapons which they were issue...
