Re: 'Soviet Storm', Military History Channel, SKY TV.
Stalingrad last night!
Absolutely brilliant- although the reversal of fortunes, Soviet Counter attack onwards, there wasn't enough time committed to this.... It should have been able to be 1.5 hrs long!
All best Feldgrau.

Re: Stalingrad. Antony Beevors
Any of you guys out there have studied or pondered the alternative concept of the Wehrmacht by-passing Stalingrad, concentrating slightly South occupying Rostov, Kalmykia and Astrakhan- thus securing the Northern flanks of a drive to conquer the caucasus and seize the majority of Stalin's oil produc...

Re: 'Soviet Storm', Military History Channel, SKY TV.
I'm hoping the 30+ observers of this thread get the chance to see this series as it is quite excellent (as an opinion). Last night was the seige of Leningrad...... presented in a highly entertaining but respectful manner, regards the suffering endured by the civillian population of Leningrad- especi...

Re: Himmler. The final days.
I completely agree with that analysis, Rolf. There was a meeting with representative of the World Jewish Congress in Stockholm in April 1945 & Himmler met with Hilel Storch to discuss openings for negotiations- but these came to nothing. http://www.deathcamps.org/reinhard/himmlercap.html Interes...

Re: 'Soviet Storm', Military History Channel, SKY TV.
Please Alan, don't hold back what you're thinking my friend. If you have something to say, then it is always better to just come out and say it. I saw the second installment tonight that focused on Operation Typhoon. Most excellent i thought. It was again, very Soviet leaning but very interesting al...

'Soviet Storm', Military History Channel, SKY TV.
Was lucky enough to catch the brand new 'Soviet Storm' opening episode last night on the History Channel, here in the UK. Personally i thought it's presentation was excellent.... the docu-drama shots seemed to be along the same lines as the footage/graphic technique that has been previosly used on t...

Himmler. The final days.
I have watched 'Nazi Hunters' on the Yesterday channel and i was intrigued by the mindset of Himmler in the final days of the War. What on earth was he actually thinking in regard to Himmler imagining that he would be welcomed by the Allies? Apparently even the Flensburger Kabinett shunned him as th...

Stalingrad. Antony Beevors
Hi guys, I used to regularly visit Feldgrau and enjory (sometimes heated) debates/learning new information on all aspects of WW2 history. Prit, Commisar, Sid Gutteridge, Phylo, Xavier and many more (and Jason!)- i hope you are all very well (and can remember me!). My father has been battling cancer ...

I'm going to resubmit that message so you don't think i've developed severe learning difficulties with my dodgy english! Ok.. I saw ages ago on Channel4 a film that seemed Russian. The film showed heavily what seemed to be Einzatz Kommando atrocities. It had a lad about 15 yr old starring and his vi...

It was very powerful stuff i remember. What is it called and can i get a copy from somewhere? I saw it on the 100 best movies fo...
