Re: Books by James Lucas

I liked "Last Days of the Reich", Lucas has a vivid writing style.

This film shows a lot of kitsch. But this story isnt absurd. A man from my village realy walked back from russia all alone. Its not nonsens. Its true. I read a book similar to this story, called "The Long Walk" In the book it is a Polish prisoner, someone who was captured by the Red Army ...

One review I saw said, "This movie makes you root against the Americans." The reviewer loved the film, as most all film critics did. Below is a thread for a different review by Spencer Warren, critical and to the point. http://acuf.org/issues/issue78/070216med.asp With all due respect to ...

Why all this Evilness talk, the Commissar is the Hero of the Revolution!

Advanced in years as he is do not forget he walked and plotted with Lenin himself! Give him credit as senility sometimes can kick in in ones advanced years!

The better question would be "who hasn't read this book?', as I think most of us are familiar with Beevor and this book.

Shes does need to shut up and quit worsening the entire ordeal for everyone involved. That said, she was stupid enough to get kidnapped in the first place, then she and her entourage come under fire (again, perhaps acted in a reckless fashion in approaching the roadblock) and as soon as I heard her ...

If George W. Butcher and Donald Dirlewanger prefer to get their countrymen back with their throats cut through and the American public assents to this, so may it be (and it has already happened that way a 1500 times), but it is up to the Italian people to decide whether they want to get their compa...

A logical argument on both sides. It shows the confusion of the present situation when U.S. troops sit behind sandbags, tense and ready, and a foreign reporter is kidnapped for publicity, released for even more publicity, and then this happens.

No, Achilles, you are correct. I have to agree completely with you. These incidents are far too numerous, and far too underreported. It is absolutely inconceivable that there is no better enforcement of traffic and, especially, anything within a half mile of a roadblock. When it happens at night (I ...

I'll tell you what, this incident was absolutely reprehensible. Someone screwed up big time, and what this God awful shooting has shown, and turns a spotlight on, is the confusion caused by suicide bombers and vehicles that are not being given, apparently, clear indication of the danger involved in ...

Re: Anyone seen the movie 'Dien Bien Phu'?

I don't see Dien Bien Phu in the video shops, not even the ones that carry off-beat and esoteric movies. Wondering how well done this movie was done... regards, Vo Nguyen Giap I recommend two other movies (much better than DBP imo) from the same director Pierre Schoendoerffer: -La 317e Section http...
