Hi All the “divisions” you mention never were ! They are “jokes” :D or post-war mithos originated fm mere intentions or paper project. “Division Andreas Hofer” On early 1944 seems to had been a “pour parler” between Gauleiter Hofer of Tyrol and SS-Brig. Von Oberkamp ex Co. Of Prinz Eugen: well, they...

Hi Sid If there were 320,000 Germans in the General Gouvernment, then the raising of seven battalions of Selbschutz (about 3,500 men?) should have been relatively easy without having to recruit people of doubtful ethnicity. Effectively yr. objection is valid: 3.500 on 320.000 represent a little more...

The question arises as to who decided that some Polish-speakers were Germans and others not, and how the various "Polish-speaking Germans" were recruited into the Selbschutz/Ordnungspolizei? About who and how decided on germanicity of someone we have to remember the existance of an overpowered Reic...

Hi Sid and all. Ethnical composition in Selbstschutz/Sonderdienst is a problem not easy to solve. But we have some data on which to speculate. On my opinion we have to subdivided this topic in two: 1) Selbstschutz in Poland areas annexed by Reich (Wartheland, Danzig-Weichsel, Schlesien) 2) Selbstsch...
