Any machine gun crew that did not have hearing protection would suffer serious hearing damage even from firing a single belt. I don't know what the contemporary condition is as regards hearing protection and Machine gun crews, but doubt anything was issued by any of the participants for their soldie...

Sure, It was a much worse situation in Warsaw and bad atrocitys were performed by some German units. We will never know how many non combatants were trapped in Fallujah and it...

I do not condone the methods used in this no quarter given battle, but believe some similarities can be drawn with Operation Phantom Fury in Fallujah as far as innocent civilians getting caught in the crossfire and illegal use of white phosphorus against enemy personnel and civilians by the U.S. Ar...

To remind us that such people arise when the circumstances permit. Dirlewanger is not a well known reprobate outside communitys like this and even some here don't know much about the Dirlewanger Brigade. That he was an arsehole is beyond doubt and he finally paid the price for that. With all his cha...

One must believe in a power greater than oneself otherwise in our own little minds we become God and answerable to no one. However that greater power is not comprehensible to dumb animals like us. Sorry David it's not the tail end of a mid life crisis is it? The thing that I think is before man ther...

Yes Paddy, please do. I agree that a new thread should be started, not that Grossdeutschland is Waffen SS (but not lily white as some would have us beleive either) but it is very relevant that the incidents with the massacre of the Sengalese troopers by Totenkopf and GD is available in the forum for...
