Sturmbattalion Oberland

I just picked up a document for the award of the Silesian Eagle to Lt. G.W. Sayffaerth, of the Oberland Sturmbatallion. Any info out there on either the battalion or the Lt.? I believe that he was a state prosecuter later, under the Nazi's. Thanks in advance!

insignia identification

I recently picked up a freikorps piece that I can not identify. It is an oakleaf wreath with crossed rifles and a stick grenade standing between. It is oval shaped and has a blue backing. It is listed as #110 in Ager's book, but the identification is unknown. Any one know what unit wore this badge? ...

Bayern Wacht Info

Herr Doktor,
Thank you for the info on tis unit. I did not know that it was political, I thought that it might be a more military Freikorps type unit. Now I can dig a little deeper!

I do not know the dates, or if reprints are available, but I did read that Rommel also wrote articles for this army journal.

Bayern Wacht

Can anyone tell me anything about this unit? It appears that they wore an oval metal arm shield with a walking lion and the unit title underneath.
Any info would be appreciated!

German unity

Many groups tried to tear Germany apart after WW1. The French set up seperatist movements in the rhineland, many Bavarians wanted to seperate from the hated Prussians(Bayern Voran!), etnic groups tried to return to their own homelands, (Poles in Silesia and East Prussia). And of course communists wa...

Freikorps history

Hi everyone! I just discovered the forum tonight. I am very excited because I am very interested in Freikorps and Kampfzeit history, but there is not a heck of a lot published.
