Re: Question about 9.Infanterie-Division

Thanks for the reply! So, it looks as though the mass of the division went into Soviet captivity. I guess it would be save to say that if any portions of the old division did go into the 9.VGD, they most likely came from its replacement and training unit. Also looks as though 9.VGD division still re...

Question about 9.Infanterie-Division

This question mainly has to do with it after the Jassy-Kishinev Operation in Romania. I have found conflicting reports saying that this division was either totally destroyed while fighting as part of the 3rd Romanian Army, or that parts of it managed to avoid/escape encirclement and were pulled from...

Hello, As far as i know III (Gep) Btl Der Fuhrer Regt were the halftrack Batallion of Das Reich, regards Paul That is what I have found as well. However, I was under the impression (looking as though the wrong impression) that in order for a regiment to be designated panzergrenadier, it had to have...

SS-Deutschland regiment question

Hello all! I have been doing some digging to find out if the Deutschland regiment, more specifically the 3rd Battalion, was ever equiped with half tracks. So far it looks as though it wasn't. I have found some organizational charts from July 1944, and they show that no battalions within the regiment...

Estonia to remove Soviet memorial

Personally, I think they should at least remove the remains of the Soviet soldiers. These men deserve a peaceful rest. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/6255051.stm Estonia to remove Soviet memorial The president of Estonia has signed into law a bill allowing the removal of a controversial Soviet wa...

There is a unit out of Idaho portraying the Pionier Kompanie of the Deutschland regiment. Is that who you mean?

Yes it was John. Well, that is really unlike him. Anyways, sorry the 12.SS didn't work out for you. As for the other two units you mentioned, I am only familiar with the 352nd. From what I have seen of them, I was not impressed. They seemed like a unit more interested in quantity over quality. In m...

I would have gone with the 12th SS but they were quite unhelpful with me joining they just stopped e-mailing me. Unlike the 352nd ID and 10th SS who were quite welcoming and offered me gear and show up and try it out hence why I'm leaning towards them. I was looking at the 12th SS but after they ga...

Re: Need some advice.

Well I've been looking at getting into WWII reenacting and I've looked at a few units here and there. There are some in Arizona but they are scattered and it seems there is a lot of backbiting I guess that happens when you don't have a real organization down there and its kind of turned me off to i...

Just a thought of the 101st Airborne soldiers that were seen; perhaps they, like the Waffen-SS soldiers, were reenactors. :?: Maybe they didn't have enough American uniforms to go around and told the reenactors to where what they had. Again, just a thought.

Andre, Not having the book readily to hand, I will say that it was sensationalized, and things were written that based on my own experience just couldn't have happened as they were written. I can't give specifics since I mailed the book to my brother. I know that just because it didn't happen to me...
