Bruno Brauer.

Hey guys. I'm not sure if this is the right... place... to post this, but could anyone give me any information or pictures on Oberst Bruno Bräuer. I know he was the I/FJR1 commander for a time. Anything else? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Frank.

LESS graphic? I'm curious to see what your other ones are. Put 'em on... The horrors of war are repeated when they are censored for future generations. It's also quite sad that these men (I think they're civillians, I can't quite tell from the picture) had to cop the bad end of a political catfight...

DXTR, I don't know too much German, so I put that link through Google and translated it. It came up with: I meant Christian, not Dexter. And in regards to BAMA, what the heck is that? (In other words, 'No, I haven't seen it."). Thanks also for clarifying the unit designation (1./FJR1). Does an...

DXTR, I don't know too much German, so I put that link through Google and translated it. It came up with: In the Poland campaign it should come several times to jump in corroding, which were painted however all. Thus the regiment in the middle of rolled Septembers on truck to Poland... It started to go wrong for Germany the minute its invasion of Poland triggered an automatic British declaration of war. The response of the British (and French, for that matter) was not "automatic". There was an ultimatem set up by the two mentioned countries that Germany withdraw her tro...

I/FJR1

Hey everyone. Can anyone give me any info on the history of I/FJR1 (where it served and when)? It took me days (on a vast hyperlink trail) to find out where II/FJR1 (I think) served in Poland. I need it's history from its formation right through to surrender. On a completely unrelated topic, why is ...

Sorry, I didn't mean mostly, I meant there were a lot... In ratio to the Norwegians, anyway (for a supposedly 'Norwegian' unit).

I believe the bulk of the Norwegian volenteers in the war were in the Skijager battalion. Can anyone verify this?

Cheers.

The term "Nazi" comes from the german pronounciation of the first two syllables of the word "NATIonalsozialist". I thought it came from NA tional So zi alist, but so many things like this fly around it's hard to get to any kind of truth when researching this kind of thing. Frank.

Hmm. I wonder why I read 20,00 as twenty-thousand instead of two-thousand. :? With current exchange rates, that means $33 Australian. Ok. I can dig it. What about the other two questions... anyone?

Cheers.

Cheers buddy. Just three more questions (I can't find these answers on their site, so if they're there, I apologise). 1 - Do I go through the 'Tracing Request' part of the site to send away for info or can I get it through the email? 2 - "In accordence with the administrative scale of charges r...

WASt

Hey, I read on their site and I couldn't confirm this, but does Deutsche Dienststelle dig up records of living people? I ask because I want to find my Grandfather's service record and he's still alive. I'd ask him about it, but he dosen't remember much from his service (in fact, I had to research wh...

I really can not understand why citizen of invaded country join to invaders? is it because of: historic background, fear, opportunism? or anything else? Cheers.

What funny is that the 23rd SS Pz-Gren. Regiment 'Norge', of which my Opa was a rifleman, was meant to be a unit of Norwegen volenteers, but it was set up in Croatia and consisted of mostly Yugoslavians, such as my grandfather.

Nordland, 'ey?

My grandfather was in that division (23rd 'Norge' Regiment). I've seen that picture of the front of the Sdkfz many-a-time. But, at least you know the picture I'm talking about, which is nice. Thanks alot for the assistance.
