I take it you are referring to the Stackpole paperback? I have Meyer's Fedorowicz translation which was published in one volume with mapbook. I do not kow where volume II would start so cannot help at the moment however as with most Divisional histories it starts with the formation and organization ...

Funnily enough just reading this book, bought it a while ago for a couple of £s on ebay. As above nothing particularly new but for the price I paid i can't really complain, its definately not the worst book on the SS that I own though!

Would advise you to look on ebay, thats where I got my copy. Cost me about £8.00 including postage for the hardback, seen the paperback go cheaper. Abebooks.co.uk is also worth a look as you will find copies on there I'm sure. Its not a bad read and worth getting at theright price.

Jan, Could you supply a bit more info on the Westemeier book please. Eric, I know the feeling I have been known to have books posted to friends and relatives houses just to keep the peace with the "boss". Did you know that it is perfectly ok to buy shoes, handbags and make up but books are...

Helmut,

Please let us know what you think when you manage to do some cross referencing of the 2 versions, who knows I may end up buying the German version!

If I may add my opinion, I'd have to go with Agte's book on Peiper. Its a huge book and very in depth and IMHO worth the cost. There are several other books on Peiper including "Devils Adjutant" by Reynolds which is pretty good if funds are tight, Charles Whiting has also done several book...

Helmut, I've got the fedorowicz version of this one, (I'm assuming you saw the stackpole version? This being a "bargain" reprint of the hardback.) anyway all I can say is that it is very in depth and well worth reading. The book reads well so I would say that the translation is very good. ...

You've got me heading to my bookshelf! I've seen a picture somewhere of Waffen SS troops using a MG34/MG42 like this. As an earlier poster said the "bipods" face has to be seen to be believed!

Have recently got both volume I & II and I've got to say the amount of info contained in them both is nothing short of mind blowing! I think they are worth the asking price, but if you hunt around a little you may find them cheaper. With reference to the above comment about finding the info on-l...

Ref this book, it is hard to get hold of, I got my copy 2 years ago on ebay UK from a guy in Glasgow. Cost me £35.00 which I thought was a bit of a bargain. Ref JJF telling you when they plan to reprint books, take everything they say with a very large pinch of salt!!!! 2 years ago I asked about the...

I agree with the authors comments on this one, I did find some useful info on the Germanic SS that I'd not come across before. Given the price of the book I found this info worth the cost of the book in itself.
