Hi Sergei,

Unfortunately, I haven't discovered a secret cache of Polish documents about Stalingrad! ;-) It's from a small Stalingrad book written in Polish. A few interesting photos in it, including one that was attached to the caption you translated (thanks for that).

Speak to you soon,

Jason

Help needed for a small Polish translation

Hi there, I've read the German version (Vergiß die Zeit der Dornen nicht) of this book. It's a pretty good book. Koschorrek was a member of 1./Panzergrenadier-Regiment 21 (24. Panzer-Division) and was one of the fortunate few who escaped encirclement at Stalingrad. He arrived in Stalingrad as a repl...

Hi Book Lover, No, there is no hardcover version of the book, and there are no plans for one. The price was too prohibitive as a self-publisher... I'd have to triple my price to even come close to recouping my costs. I did use a high-quality satin stock, 175 line-per-inch printing (instead of the us...

New addition to turret numbers

I've just added a war diary document to my site showing the order for 24. Panzer-Regiment to change its turret numbers from the normal numbering system to the peculiar system used by 24. Panzer-Division in Operation Blau. The document shows the previous turret numbers as well as the new ones. Enjoy!...

Panzerbefehlswagen of 24. Panzer-Division

Hi Paul, Thanks for your reply and the information. The regimental stabs panzers were actually number "371" for the Kdr., "372" for the Adjutant, "373" for the Ord.Offz" all the way to "378". The Abteilung stabs panzers were: "361 to 368" for I....

Complete list of turret numbers for Pz.-Rgt. 24

Hi there, I have assembled a complete list of the turret numbers of Panzer-Regiment 24 but am having a few difficulties, particularly with the Panzer IV Schwadrons. The Regiment has 32 Panzer IVs (12 long-barrel and 20 short-barrel). The Panzer IV long-barrels divide evenly amongst 3 panzer schwadro...

Hey George,

Thanks for the good wishes. I was thinking about bringing some of my books to Battlebridge Books. Think they'd be interested?

Soldatenjahrbuch

One of the best places to get addresses of veterans' groups is the book series "Deutsches Soldatenjahrbuch". These books are published annually and in the back they have about 20 pages of contact addresses for various groups (Heer, SS, Luftwaffe etc.). Once you get in contact with one of t...

Panzer tactics in the battle of Stalingrad

Hi there, I've just finished a book about 24. Panzer-Division in Stalingrad and it clearly shows how the panzers were used in city combat. It is a general rule that tanks should not be used in city fighting but the veteran panzer crews of 24. Panzer-Division had quite a lot of success using panzers ...

Book about 295.ID

By far the best source of information about 295.ID is the book "Rekonstruktion eines Tages-Buches: Die 295. Infanterie-Division von 1940 bis 1945" by Wolfgang Kirstein. This massive book has 1300 pages and contains almost every piece of available information about this Division. The author...
