Address of Pionier Kameradenschaft in Soldatenjahrbuch?

Does anybody have the address of the Pionier Kameradenschaft? It is in the back of the Soldatenjahrbuch series, but my latest edition is 1997, and I'm not sure if the address in there is still current.

Thanks!

No such comprehensive list exists. A list does not even exist of higher ranks, such as Obersten. A researcher would have to gather every Hauptmann's name from a multitude of different sources. And even then, it would be absolutely impossible to ensure that all 'Hauptleute' had been accounted for. Pr...

Anybody own the 22. Panzer-Division history?

Hi there, I'm wondering whether anybody on this forum owns a book called "Die 22. Panzer-Division 1941 - 43" published as an Auftrag der Traditionsgemeinschaft in 1970. It consists of two volumes with a total of 354 pages. It is not to be confused with the other 22.PD book written by Rolf ...

Glenn,

Thanks for the update. Biblio produce some great books but they certainly make you wait for them.

Cheers,

Hi Kevin, Yes, there are books that list all the DKiG winners. Horst Scheibert's "Die Träger des Deutschen Kreuzes in Gold" lists all of the Heer winners, but only alphabetically, not by unit. The Biblio series "Die Deutschen Divisionen 1939 - 1945" lists all the winners of high ...

Has "Ritterkreuzträger der Sturmartillerie" been r

Hi there, Does anyone know whether the Biblio book "Ritterkreuzträger Der Sturmartillerie" has been reprinted yet? I contacted Biblio many years ago (five or six) and they said it would be reprinted in a year or two. That's now four years ago. I'm wondering if anyone has some inside knowle...

I'm sorry, ignore my previous post. I got it confused with something else.:? Books published for wartime public consumption DO lack detail. I have two wartime books: one is about Cholm and the other is about Sevastopol. Photos in the books are generally good as are eyewitness accounts, but you will ...

I have not heard of this book either but I have own others published by units during the war, and I have found them to be pretty good. They are meant for members of the unit (and not for public consumption), so they contain a surprising amount of detail - and an even more surprising lack of propagan...

Thanks for your reply. Do you think 'Gasometer' could be referring to gas tanks or oil tanks? In Stalingrad, there were massive round storage tanks that held oil and/or gas, and they were usually placed together in groups (from 6 tanks up to dozens in one group). You definitely think it was this typ...

What does "Gasometer" mean in German?

Hi there, I wonder if someone can help me with the term "Gasometer". It is being used as the Todesort (place of death) of a German soldier, so I presume it is some type of building or location. This "Gasometer" is in the factory district of Stalingrad. Thanks in advance, Jason Mark

Hi, I've yet to read this book in English (I can't wait) but I have read it in German under its original title "Vergiß die Zeit der Dornen nicht". It is a great book about a young German recruit that is sent to Stalingrad in a replacement battalion and arrives at the end of October 1942. H...

Here's more

Here are a few more for the list. All of the following are Knight's Cross winners. I think some of these already appear on the list, but I compiled it offline: Feldwebel Hinrich Ahrens (14./Inf.Rgt. 301) - 4 kills Generalleutnant Ernst-Günther Baade - 1 kill Unteroffizier Gottfried Bäumler (2./Inf.R...

A few additions to my previous post

I found the first names of a few of the guys on the list I just posted:

Oberleutnant Ernst Grunau (Div. Begl. Kp.) – 1 tank on 29.1.1945
Hauptmann Herbert Stenzel (I./Pz.Gren.Rgt. 108) – 1 tank

A few more to add to the list

Here are a few more that can be added to the list. They all come from 14. Panzer-Division, apart from the last one which comes from 24. Panzer-Division. Oberleutnant Paul Hollenweger (4./Krad.Btl. 64) – 1 tank on 3.7.1942 Oberfeldwebel Erich Petermann (4./Krad.Btl. 64) – 3 tanks on 3.7.1942 Obeleutn...

Hi there, This is just my two cents... The Prussian aristocracy was well represented in 24. Panzer-Division. Its commanders were von Hauenschild, von Broich and von Lenski. The Ia was von Menges, Ib was von Hobe, Ic was Graf vom Hagen, IIa von Gusovius, etc. etc. And that was just the Division Stab....
