Re: Valkyrie (upcoming film)

How historically accurate is Valkyrie? Professor Brendan Simms from the University of Cambridge gives his opinion on the historical accuracy of the movie: http://www.worldwarstoday.co.uk/2011/10/how-historically-accurate-is-valkyrie.html I have to agree with him. I think the movie was well researche...

The World Wars Today is back online

Time for an update here. When I launched my website last year I was completely new to the whole thing and made a mess of it. But after some serious reading up on "running websites for dummies" I can announce The World Wars Today is finally back online again since the beginning of the month...

Operation Eichmann: free e-book download from Amazon

Just a heads up that Operation Eichmann is currently free to download on Kindle from Amazon.co.uk. You don't need a Kindle e-reader to actually read the book as you can also view it on your computer screen. The promotion won't last long so get in there quick and snap up your free copy. http://www.am...

Commando comics - don't you just love them

Who else grew up reading Commando comics? I used to have HUNDREDS of them when I was a teenager and eagerly awaited the 8 new issues being released each month. Unfortunately I sold my collection and immediately started to regret it. Fortunately they are very popular on e-bay and I'm rebuildin...

Re: Dresden TV drama

It's excellent, I very much enjoyed it too. It's available to purchase on DVD from Amazon. Not very expensive either as I was thinking of buying it the other day but opted for a few others instead.

Definitely worth a watch though sitting in the dark late at night.

The National Army Museum - London

I was in London at the end of last year and visited the Imperial War Museum which is just great. But I also heard about another smaller museum next to the Royal Chelsea Hospital which is financed by the Ministry of Defence. And it was a pleasant surprise. Although it doesn't have an exhibit hall ful...

Re: Colditz reruns on Yesteryear channel

Great show, I very much enjoyed watching it for the first time. Jeremy Kemp was excellent in the 3 or 4 episodes he appeared in. "Enemy at the Door" is also showing on YESTERDAY at the moment but I missed the first few episodes last week so have some catching up to do. "Secret Army&qu...

Re: Can anyone recommend....

"Five Graves to Cairo" is on Sky Movies next week in Great Britain. Great movie from 1943 starring Erich von Stronheim as Rommel which doesn't potray the Germans as all goose-stepping Nazis.

Not to be missed. 8)
