Generals captured on the eastern front

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had a breakdown of the number of German generals captured by year on the eastern front (other fronts would be a plus). I thought I had seen something about this a while back, but now I can't seem to find it.

Thanks,

Doug

Map

Hi Singo, Thanks for the information. I have also purchased similiar maps about 15-20 years ago (probably from the same source), amd I have also heard of the series "Der Zweite Weltkrieg im Kartenbild" by by Klaus-Jürgen Thies. I went through some old emails and I found a series of emails ...

Maps

Thanks Singo, It was just a stab in the dark. I have portions that were included in the Russo-German war book series by Victor Madeja. On his books he has copies of the Lage Ost maps covering certain periods of the war. This volume dealt with the final month of the war and on the cover there was a L...

Question

Hi Shingo, I'm just curious regarding your map of the area around Danzig dated 6 May 1945. Is that part of a larger map, and if so would you have it? I have a map from 5 May 1945 but it doesn't show the area of the 1st, 7th and 19th Armies. If you are in possession of these areas, would it be possib...

Interesting

Hi Pirx, That's interesting. In the book "The Great Escape" it mentions the following: (talking about the morning of the escape) "The twenty fourth dawned fair, and by appell the sun was well over the pine trees, unchallenged in a clear sky. The surface of the snow was glistening, and...

Great Escape

Hi, Thank you for mentioning that. You beat me to it. I have always been fascinated by that story. According to the book it was the night of the 24th/25th of March...if I am not mistaken. As for other escapes, from what I've read only one German managed to escape from England back to Germany, and he...

Dora

Hi, I read that the massive railway gun "Dora" was transported, assembled, operated, etc. by a staff of some 3,000 men commanded by a major-general. I've always wondered who this major-general was. Was it someone onsite, or someone back in Berlin who transmitted orders to a Colonel or Lt. ...

Italian OOB in the Balkans

Hi,

I was looking for the OOB of the Italian units in the Balkans for the following dates: December 1941, July 1942, and January 1943.

I have seen some OOBs on the excellent ComandoSupremo website, but I couldn't find these dates listed.

Thanks,

Doug

Armee Detachment Spree

Hi, Here is what I have on this formation. Doug On 23 April 1945, just as the Russians were at the very gates of the Berlin, GenLt Hellmuth Reymann was relieved of his post as Commander of Fortress Berlin and appointed commander of Army Detachment Spree in the Potsdam area. This formation consisted ...

Sure!

Be my guest. Like I mentioned before, a lot of it is in disarray and the dates are off on quite a few of the positions. So any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Jerry,

I think it is a fluke because I was talking with someone who actually has an oob from the German archives dated May 1943 which shows no such formation. It is still listed as Heeresgruppe Afrika until the surrender. Mehner appears to be incorrect.
