Old thread, but this helmet was no doubt picked up in southern France during operation Dragoon. Heeres-Küstenartillerie-Regiment 1291 was defending the coast there. I would be interested to see photos of this helmet.

The book has only been out for a couple of months and can easily be found on amazon both in the US and in Europe.

I have just finnished writting a book about the war in the region of Nice, Cannes, Grasse. Though it is by no means a history of Reserve Division 148, it does have a large amount of information, text, first hand accounts, casualty lists, exhumation reports, etc, about Reserve Division 148, much more...
