when hitler first came to power, which he seized through brutality, he began to systematically dismantle the german republic and abolish civil liberties. as far as i know the rest of the world did not take him seriously and viewed him as a joke. this obviously was a disastrous first impression.

we have gotten way off topic here. germany should quadruple her military spending and foster an attitude of self reliance for self defense. this should be duplicated by the uk, france, and italy.
