Re: Out-of-Print Book Updates: Demyansk
After a several year delay, Demyansk by Russ Schneider has finally been republished and is available on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Demyansk-Tales-Russian-Wilderness-1941-45/dp/0964238918/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1307391383&sr=8-1 It is my understanding from the author's family that a second...

Re: Croation Legion By Jason Mark
This book looks to have the standard Jason Mark treatment with regard to outstanding maps and an exceptional amount of unpublished photographs. I own everything Jason Mark has ever published. The books are expensive, but the quality is absolutely superb. The following is a description from the publi...

David Stahel - Operation Barbarossa & Germany's Defeat
Has anyone read David Stahel's book, Operation Barbarossa & Germany's Defeat in the East? It looks interesting, but very expensive. I do not want to take the plunge unless it is good.

Re: The Dambusters
With Peter Jackson involved in the new Dambusters movie, money is no object. From the NYT: The year is 1943, and as the Nazi war machine rises to the absolute height of its aggression, a hand-picked squadron of Royal Air Force pilots is selected to take part in one of the most daring, highly classif...

History & Military Book Club
Both the Military Book Club and History Book Club have Hell's Gate in their catalog this week. Moreover, there is a nice three page glossy insert in each Club's membership materials this month. That should generate some sales! Well done, Doug, I read your book years ago and it very much deserves a l...

Re: Last Major German Victory of World War II
True, but can von Manstein's counteroffensive to stabilize the line after Stalingrad truly be called a "campaign"?

Last Major German Victory of World War II
The cover to SEVASTOPOL 1942: VON MANSTEIN'S TRIUMPH by ROBERT FORCZYK states the Sevastopol Campaign was the "last major German victory of World War II." Can that be true? Certainly, the Germans had localized success after Sevastopol. But, think about it, was there a clear-cut victorious ...

Re: New Stalingrad Book: Angriff by Jason Mark
Alright Uncle Joe . . . please refer me to one photo-history that is better written, more informative, and contains more unpublished photos than Angriff? And don't refer me to any "Then and Now" books because although I love and cherish the series, I have them all and Angriff is clearly su...

Re: New Stalingrad Book: Angriff by Jason Mark
O.K., since my first post I have spent the remainder of the afternoon (and early evening) pouring through the book. Amazing. The photographs are incredible. The text describing what is depicted is meticulously researched. In all seriousness, if there is a better photo history of any battle from any ...

New Stalingrad Book: Angriff by Jason Mark
Jason Mark has a new book out - Angriff: The German Attack on Stalingrad in Photos. I have just received my copy, so I have only had an opportunity to flip through the 368 (8.5 x 11) pages. As with all of Jason's books, Angriff appears to carry on Jason's traditoin of accompanying all photographs wi...

Re: Books on the Battle Of Arnhem and Battle of Berlin
I used to be obsessed with Arnhem. Read Ryan's A Bridge Too Far and Kershaw's It Never Snows in September back-to-back. It is a wonderful experience. You get the Allied and Axis versions of the battle and they compliment one another tremendously. In fact, if you read just these two, you will have a ...

Re: Achtung Schweinehund by Harry Pearson
I loved it -- but then, I am exactly Pearson's age and grew up not too far from Pearson in Middlesborough, so it was a fond trip down memory lane for me.
