Re: The Sd. Kfz. 234 Thread!!!

Hello

Delete this line. Don't know how it slipped in. The post was about 234/1, 234/3 and 234/4 anyway. The allocations of 234/2 are in another post. 12 Pz. Div. received a single 232 on June 7th 1944.

Cheers

Re: 103 Pz Bde Dec 1944

Hello I now have the Gliederungsbild Roger was referring to. It could indeed be that the three Pz.Jg.Kp Bock, Pankow and Lang were at the basis of the II./Pz.Rgt 2 as also 7./Pz.Rgt was having one Panzerjäger 38. The other two Kompanien were numbered 1. and 2./Pz.Rgt. 2 and equipped with Panzerjäger...

Re: German To&Es in Normandy, '44

I noticed that I mixed up 251/2 and 251/3 in the above posts. The 251/2 (Gw) in schwere Kp is a type 44 phenomen. The units mentioned above should read 251/3 (Fu).

Re: KStN 1114a/b/c - Summer 1944

Hello 1114c was used for the Panzergrenadiere (armoured). The a and b variants, like the d variant are variants using one (a), two (b) or three (d) Platoons with 6 x 251/21 Drillinge AA mounts. They are connected to the Panzer-Brigaden phenomen. They also differ by date, 1114 b dated 1.11.44 was a C...

Re: Need help with notations on gliederung

Hello Richard They are paperwork. The Schematische Kriegsgliederungen were a complicated compilation with a lot of data depending on an informed and exact input. These Gliederungen were not done by the same people making the changes. They were also documents adapted regularly. If a draft based on a ...

Re: Need help with notations on gliederung

Hello Leo The realities did interfere with the planning of OKH, Org.Abt. a lot in 1944, as this example shows. In the end the reality was such that it had to be officially disbanded weeks after it had ceased to exist "due to preceeding battle action". However, to drop a "bo" was ...

Re: Need help with notations on gliederung

Hello Richard Coming back to 49 Inf. Div: According to Burkhart Mueller-Hillebrand, this unit indeed was upgraded, the correct German term being "Umgliederung". The time frame indicated is autum 1944 and going by the Gliederung of 49 Inf. Div., this must have happened in September 1944. Un...

Hello Yes indeed. Richard, for the complex story of 183. ID, you will find the following in your H1-38 pdf. Order for formation of Korps Abteilung C, dated 11.10.1943, p. 207. Order for dissolving Korps Abteilung C dated 20.07.1944, p. 190. Order for forming Schattendivision Döllersheim (31. Welle) ...

Re: Meaning of letter "D" on map of 183.VGD.

Hello Richard Regarding the unit sign it's the correct use of "Sturmgeschützabteilung innerhalb Pz. Jg. Abt." That's when they used the name Abteilung to denote the Pz Jg.Kp. (Sturmgeschütz) within the Pz. Jg. Abt. (don't worry, this use of the term even fooled the Germans and later an ord...

Re: SS Penal battalion 500/600:Paratroopers

Paddy Thanks. The 1./SS-Fallsch.Jäg. Btl. 600, is it identical with Kp Leiheit? Is this "augmentation" the basis of the Skorzeny statement that his Company from Fallsch.Jäg. Btl. 600 was "reinforced"? To sum up, about 1 1/2 Cos were effectivly used then from Fallsch.Jäg.Btl. 600....

Re: SS Penal battalion 500/600:Paratroopers

Hello It seems that Skorzeny didn't have a very clear picture on the Ardennes regarding the SS-Fallschirmjäger. Besides the Kompanie from Jagdverband Mitte, one to four Companies are mentioned in his various post war statements. Does anybody have hard data how many Companies were up front in the end...
