Thanks anyway! Let me find that picture maybe then we know better. Strange because my aunt remembered that number by heart. She thought it was his ID number. I guess it might be the number of my missing grandfathers brother. He was a parachutist, but broke his ankle during training and was sent to a...

@Lorenz Thanks anyway. the explanation with the letters was a great help already. The B must be correct as he was a cook in the Stab. I interviewed my aunt again and told her that the number must be wrong, she stated that it also might have been the other way around: 03288 B Absolute clarity we will...

Many thanks Lorenz but there must be something wrong. You stated the number L 08832 But his number was 08832 B He was last accounted early 1944 as part of the Stab I/Gren.Rgt. 570 in Moldavia by the WASt and is since september 1944 missing. I am trying to find his exact unit within the division.

Searching for a Book on the 302. Inf. Div.

I am desperately looking for a book on the history of the 302. Inf division. It was published by Emil Kilgast: " Ruckblick auf die Geschichte der 302. Infanterie-Division." in 1976. It is out of print and is tagged selfpublished, so I am unable to trace back the publishing house. If anybod...

He was a soldier in the 570th Gren Rgt which was part of the 302 inf. div. destroyed in the pocket on the Pruth. I am particulary interested in exact maps, movements etc of the last days of the division. I ...

Thanks Paddy for the info. Unfortunately I do not have his Wehrpass as it was confiscated when he shortly went into allied POW captivity. It is such a shame I did not find time to discuss this with him when he was still alive. But as it is you think you have all the time in the world until it is fin...

Please identify this award!

My Grandfather recently passed away and I inherited his uniform. So far I was able to identify all awards with the exception of one. It looks like a foreign award. Does anyone have a clue? He served as a Stabsoffizier in a Beob Art. Bat. and was stationed in Northern Greece as well as on the Eastern...
