Algemeine SS
There was a "Nederlandse SS", an offshoot/copycat sprouting from the Mussert Garde.
This name was later changed to "Germanische SS".
There may have been units from the Algemeine stationed somewhere, but I don't know where.
Timo to the rescue.

Hi Gerhard,
I'll be 80 on the 1st of November (allerheiligen) , hence my saintly face.
So I guess I am the youngest of us three.
Oh boy that makes me feel good
Hang in there guys !!!!
As Guy Lombardi used to sing : "enjoy yourself, it's later than you think".

G.B. I am sure none of the other guy's and myself feel particular brave. Lucky is a better term for it. We left the brave ones behind and it bothers me when I hear and read what is written about them and is happening to some of their memorials. Facing them or whatever they threw at us did not make ...

Helmut, Actually that joke was not too far fetched. Sweden had a brisk commerce going with Germany, From ballbearings (made in the USA), to Zimmer Bofors anti Aircraft guns, to what have you. Since the uniforms did indeed look alike to an extent, that "joke' could even have been true. Hail and ...

memory
A nice memory was, when i got discharge from the hospital, and nobody seemed to know where I belonged or was supposed to go. So I got sent to a Div. staff H.q. in Uddel. My right arm still bandaged and all. They did not need a kradmelder, could not ride very well with a bandaged up hand anyway. So, ...

The "Tattoo" has been discussed on this forum as well as A.H.F. "ad in absurdum". It was a capital letter, denoting the bloodtype of the person, scratched into the skin, under the left arm, a little above half way between elbow and armpit. this was "smeared" with black ...
