Re: Kpen.
Thank you. One more thing. In this sentence, Der einzige Verband, der bis zur Kampfgruppe Licht vorkommt, is das Pz.Rgt. mit seinen Kampfstaffeln. Es wir der Kampfgruppe Licht unterstellt. I translate it as "The only unit that reached Kampfgruppe Licht was the Panzer Regiment with its command s...

Kpen.
Hello. What does Kpen. mean, as in 2 verst. Kpen. des Rgt. mit 1 Bttr. haben Befehl, noch am Abend Senno zu erreichen, um die Verteidigungsstellung des Kradschtz.-Btl dort zu verstarken. I translated this as "2 reinforced (somethings) of the regiment with 1 battery have orders to reach Senno by...

Re: New (possibly) Lage Ost Maps Discovered at NARA
It's been a couple of years since I've been in the cartography room, so what specifically are you referring to when you say "map scanner"? I've always used the color copier that makes 11x17 copies for 35 to 50 cents a copy. Most of the captured Soviet maps from WWII can be copied in 4 sec...

Re: New (possibly) Lage Ost Maps Discovered at NARA
I would ask that anyone going soon (I should be there in April) should collectively try and assemble a complete index of what is available, and try and figure out how to get these digitized. Aaron has indicated that these are probably too big for the map scanner on the cartography floor, and I am u...

Re: New (possibly) Lage Ost Maps Discovered at NARA
Very interesting Stephan!
The USSR maps you mention,
USSR Northern Front / Sep 17, 1939-Jul 29, 1942
USSR Central Front / May 27, 1938-Feb 2, 1943
USSR Southern Front / Jul 12, 1941-Jul 5, 1943
Are those Soviet maps?

Re: Body found at Kursk
Recently a Pzkw-IV was discovered buried in the Oskol river near Noviy Oskol. Attached is a picture of the turret. It's believed the it was destroyed in February, 1943.

Re: Body found at Kursk
I´ve already contacted the Wast. They only know the place of his death and thats it. For my family and me some pictures would be totally great, because we´re only having a few ones..... But maye we´ll have some luck in the future to find some more information about him;-) OK, I contacted my friend ...

German evening report
Hello. In German evening reports from 1941 I see this construction: Am 6./7.41 1.) wurden durch die Divison a) .... Gefengene eingetracht, b) .... Flugzeuge, .... Pz.Kpf.Wg. .... Pz.Sp.Wg., .... Fahrzeuge [and so on] erbeutet bzw. vernichtet. Then section 2.) covers the division's personnel casualti...

Re: Battle of Korsun-Shevchenko(Hitler agreed with of gen. lie)
Well, let's continue. In what mr . N. Zetterling's swindle consists? In a few words its swindle is reduced to the following. <snip> So, "Study of Join Staff" intends for military leaders of operative level, that is for commanders of troops of Armies and Fronts (for komanduyushchy), for th...

Re: Battle of Korsun-Shevchenko(Hitler agreed with of gen. lie)
Yuri, thank you for proving my case. This particular disagreement got started when you originally said that the figure for antiaircraft artillery reinforcements/replacements, 140,000, was larger than for other categories and deduced from this that "Apparently, the German air forces (Luftwaffe) ...

Re: Battle of Korsun-Shevchenko(Hitler agreed with of gen. lie)
Has found out the battle report of the commander of 133rd (motorised) antiaircraft regiment of colonel Onemüller. The report covers the period from February, 20th till March, 11th, 1944. This document drives last nail in a cover of a coffin of the false version of the German generals about break fr...

I don't mind the bias; it's the disregard of basic facts which bugs me.mellenthin wrote:Yurie is clearly extremely biased.
