Hi Leo. Thanks very much for the info. Would the 90th which came across the Brits. Irish, and Cdns. in Dec. 1943, on the Sangro and Moro River front have been a mixture of battle hardened troops from North Africa, and Russia, along with conscripts and new volunteers or would it have been made up of ...

I think a 'cold war' would have developed between the 'West' and Europe. Remeber how it was like living in the '50's? G.B. would have lost the first phase of the war. America would have been involved within a few years on a two front war, (Asia and the remains of the Dominions, it's ally), and a sta...

90th Panzergrenadier Division
I wonder if anyone could tell me if the 90th PanzerGrenadier which was sent to Italy from Sardinia in 1943 was a descendent of the 90th Light from North Africa?
Thanks,
Scruffy.

90th PanzerGrenadier Division
Is the 90th PanzerGrenadier Division refered to the same one which was stationed in Sardinia before the invasion of Italy?
I'm trying to track down info on that unit. Could you possibly put me in the right direction?
Thanking you in advance.
Scruffy.

German units at Ortona Italy, December 1942
The line from the Adriatic coast inland at the Moro River line was held by the 90th PanzerGrenadier Division. This Division was sent from Sardinia in the summer of 1943 to Italy. The 90th was composed of the 200th and 361st PanzerGrenadier Regiments. By the time the Canadians met them at the Moro Ri...

Read the book TRADING WITH THE ENEMY, by Charles HIGHAM, published by Dell Publishing of New York. My copy is from 1984, I don't know if it is still in print. Although it does not address your question directly it will shed some light on the amount of aid, information, and assistance given by very i...

Dieppe
Seems to me that the Anglo/American invasion of North Africa, Sicily and Italy, coupled with the lessons the Americans learned in their Pacific island hopping campaigns all were brought together for the Normandy campaign. The Dieppe landing, (Recon in force?), are from everything that I have read a ...
