Pre-war Major in the 26th Artillery Regiment
I have a pre-war tailored uniform that belonged to a major in the 26th Artillery Regiment.
Who might this be and what happened to them.
FYI-If it helps this uniform and breeches had to be for a man over 300 lbs.

26th Inf. Division
I am looking for a good order of battle for the 26th Inf. Div. I am specifically trying to identify a Major in the 26th Artillerie Rgt from around 1937/38. I purchased his tailor made uniform and I would like to try to attribute it to an actual person. The only other clue that I have is that the Maj...

The reason that German leadership was so good, was that they were empowered to make on-site decisions without having to worry about micromanagement from superior commands. That can clearly be demonstrated by small unit commanders initiative in the campaigns in Poland, France, the Low Countries, and ...

The major difference between Allied and German philisophy on paratroops was on how they were to be utilized. The Allied idea was to drop them ahead of the current front lines and then have the ground troops link up with them. This proved disasterous in Operation Market Garden when the British droppe...

For commanders of regiments it was important but still not mandatory that the commander be of the same service (ie, Pz, Art, Inf, etc.) as the troops he commanded[Regimental commanders also underwent special Regimental commanders training class]. When command of a Divisional size unit was warranted,...

From Wehrmacht awards.com: In contrast to the flood of more than 50 different ribboned awards from the late 1930s, wartime Germany only created eleven new ribboned decorations for the new world war -- and the absolute maximum that any German might theoretically wear of all these was six. Devices wer...
