Translation of this WWI Postcard

Hello Everyone: I was working on my family history again recently and came across this old postcard. Although I am a native German speaker, my skills at Suetterlin are not that great, especially when trying to read the postcard below. If anyone could help me out, that would be greatly appreciated! h...

Hello Lorenz!

Thanks for the information. I've put a request in for Hooten's book and it should prove to be very helpful. Thanks very much for the info that you have given already, it is much appreciated!

Luftwaffe Units for Op Sicily

Hello Everyone!

Just a quick question but I have yet to find a site or a good source that has the answer but does anyone know the Luftwaffe Units that were engaged/based on Sicily during Operation Husky?

Many Thanks!

KSK Atlantis Crew/Officers

Hello All,

Does anyone know of or know of a link to the Crew List, or at least the names of the officers who served on the German Merchant Raider Atlantis 1940-41?

Many thanks,

Chris

SMS Emden's Guns during her action with HMAS Sydney

Hello Everyone, I have been doing some work on SMS Emden and her action against HMAS Sydney on November 9, 1914 near the Cocos-Keeling Islands. I was reading John Walter's book The Kaiser's Pirates and came across a reference that some of Emden's best gunlayers were ashore with the landing party and...

Unknown com. ceremony of a U-Boat

Hello Everyone: Just wanted to post an interesting negative that I came across. It appears to be the commissioning ceremony of a U-boat but I have no idea which boat it may be. The shield on the side should provide a good idea but so far I have been unable to find it on any sites or in any of my boo...

Re: think they'll give Danzig back now?

Long story short: It confirmed suspicions that have been held for years and years and the fact remains...in wartime everyone is up to something. Again the only concrete way to prove it is to find a witness or be able to see the archival evidence...

Re: Valkyrie (upcoming film)

Don't get me started on Defiance....as for Valkyrie....It was a good movie that told the story as good as hollywood possibly could. Some minor details were off and some bigger ones (like the seditious talk with a General in NA who gets killed durng the same attack where Stauffenberg got wounded). Bu...

Re: Russian POWs

Most interesting....my grandfather served with the 137 ID in 1941 and I have a picture very similar to the one posted above. What I find most interesting about the scene is how few guards were sent with the POWs

Re: Luftwaffe's decline

Joel S.A. Hayward wrote a wonderful book on Stalingrad and the defeat of the Luftwaffe in 1942/43. Although the Luftwaffe was far from gone (which he admits) he does devote a lot of discussion to the great loss of skilled airmen in the theatre and the problems of leadership from the top. Where the d...
