Re: Title of movie about Royal Marines in WWII...

Mostly likely you're thinking of Cockleshell heroes with the late great Trevor Howard. Made in 1955.

Re: North Africa 1941-42 first-hand accounts

Hi, Sorry Richard, I have nothing to offer by way of first person accounts. I'm just popping in to answer Reb's question. Almasy wrote about his experiences in North Africa during World War II in the book With Rommel's Army In Libya . It was written in 1943, but it's still in print. I've not read it...

Poland Betrayed by Williamson

Hi,

Has anyone here read Poland Betrayed: The Nazi-Soviet Invasions of 1939? It’s written by David Williamson and published by Pen & Sword in August of this year. The ISBN is 1844159264. Haven’t had any success finding reviews of it elsewhere on the net.

Thanks

Re: Out-of-print book updates

Hi,

Don't know about Moscow Tram Stop, but you can buy a paperback re=print version of "Hitler's Spanish Legion" from Hailer Publishing for $29.99. It can be bought direct from hailerpublishing.com or through amazon.

Re: Help needed to identify a movie!

Two possiblities that spring to mind are Gorgo or Reptilicus. Based on your description of a "loch ness like" monster, Reptilicus seems the more likely of the two.

Re: Bloody Streets: The Soviet Assault on Berlin, April 1945

Hi Stephan, Do you have any further updates on the availability of "Bloody Streets"? I've had it on pre-order with Amazon since the summer and they tell me it will ship on 3 December, but I've noticed Amazon isn't accepting pre-orders at this time and Helion doesn't show a publishing date ...

Re: Blitzkrieg Unleashed: Poland 1939

Hi Richard, Truly enjoyed the Germans in Normandy. I've pre-ordered a copy Blitzkrieg Unleashed and looking forward to reading it. Of the books Bill mentions, I've only read Rossino's (sorry Bill :) ). I've a copy of The War Hitler Won: The Fall of Poland by Nicholas W. Bethell that I've not gotten ...

Re: DVDs

Hi Helmut, I was in the same boat wanting to see Region 2 and Region 4 DVDs. What I did was buy a Philips DVP5140 at the local big box store and entered a hack code found the internet which changed it from a Region 1 player to a multi-region player. I've had it for about 2 years and it plays Region ...

Johnson was born in 1911 and didn't really cut his musical teeth until the late '20s. He made his first recording in 1936 and died in 1938.

Great song but not about WW II. The German war of the song is WW I. It was recorded by Geechie Wiley in 1930.
