Re: Marders in the Ardennes?

Thank you, Martin; it's a disappointment, to be sure, but who's going to argue with an authority? 8) Not moi!

Paul

Marders in the Ardennes?

Did any German unit in the Battle of the Bulge use the old Marder panzerjaeger vehicles (any chassis)? I see mention in my reference books of Hetzers, StuGs, Jagdpanzer IVs and Jagdpanthers, but I have yet to see a mention of Marders. Seems to me that with this being the last throw of the dice, virt...

Re: Favourite WWII wargames unit

Give me a company-size outfit of Panther F's with working stereoscopic rangefinders, night-vision gear, plenty of POL, and trained crews, and I can take on anything the Allies can throw at me! :D

Paul

Panzergrenadier battalion HQ

Hello, everyone; I'm wondering how to put together a Panzergrenadier battalion HQ in 1/285th scale. I'm thinking it would have two or possibly three 251 radio halftrack APCs, two radio trucks (a light one by Horch and a heavy one by Opel), three or four Volkswagen light cars (Kubelwagens or Schwimmw...

Temporary German divisional markings at Kursk

Hi, everyone; been away a long time, eh? Glad to see the site's still going strong. I used to have a JPEG showing the temporary divisional markings used by the German divisions involved in the Kursk campaign; I've lost it over the years (this is my third hard drive), and I was wondering if anyone re...

I'll hold off on a final opinion, but I still have a gut feeling that this photo is not for real. I mean, I'm still looking at it and thinking that it's a "Feejee Mermaid" writ enormously large and given tracks. That French site did nothing for me; sorry, Paulus. Much as I like and respect...

Please do so, Paulus. Right now, all I can think of looking at it is that it's the vehicular equivalent of the "Feejee mermaid"!

Is that monstrosity for real?!? Looks almost like a clever bit of retouching. :?

I don't doubt your story, Michael. I was just saying that Goering was a law unto himself as far as uniforms etc. were concerned. It makes sense to me that he'd be toting an American revolver.

Hey, MG42--another Paul here ... That pic which Paulus II posted is not from a Squadron-Signal book. It's from the center color plate of Osprey New Vanguard # 34, Sturmartillerie & Panzerjäger , by Bryan Perrett/Mike Chappell/Mike Badrocke (the color plate in question is Badrocke's work). Just t...

I tried Firefox, Martin, but that caused my machine to crash, too. Thanks, anyway. Maybe if I get the opportunity, I'll go back there and look at the pics.

Admittedly, Michael, this is speculation, but you know how Goering was pretty much a law unto himself as far as uniforms and such went; why not be armed with a sidearm which would be odd by WWII German standards? I know how Germans normally prefer automatic pistols. Der Dicke just had to be differen...
