Language is fine Kamen, so plse step down from your high horse and relax. I couldn't be more relaxed. *Sigh* Are you qualified? Are you a veteran of said battles?? If so, plse add your points to this as your view will greatly add to this.....if you are not a veteran of said battles and just another...

sniper1shot (or whatever your name is...), that fact that you are moderator here doesn't put you above the others, let alone give you the right verbally to insult them with no reason. Your post is typical for someone who reads the German (post-war) propaganda 24 x 7, but this is not your fault since...

Hi Jan, there is no OOB (in that sense of the word) for Mar/Apr 1945 in the documents of HGr Sued. There are some lists, but never in such detail. I completed mine using the Tagesmeldungen and divisional status reports available in the HGr Sued Ia KTB Anlagen, which, BTW, are partially reproduced in...

The number of immobilized Tigers was not 3, but at least 10. Eventualy three of them were total write-offs, while the rest were only temporary put out of action (knocked out). There is a very detailed map on the battles at Zamoly in the map supplement of one of the Soviet General Staff studies, but ...

In fact the 16.Volksgrenadier Division (not the 16.Volkstrum Division :D ) orginated from the 16.LW-Field Division. According to Zetterling During the British Goodwood operation the division suffered serious casualties. All commanders and staffs of infantry regiments and battalions were put out of a...

Re: HGr Weichsel

Dave Glantz told me just a month ago that it was now nearly impossible to get anything out of the Russian archives or the military history institute of the Red Army, that access was being systematically shut off except to the most trusted historians. I realy don't care. Your correspondence with DG ...

Hello Yin, in 1944/45 the typical Soviet Cavalry Corps was in actuallity a mechanized formation, in which the cavalrymen were just horse-mounted infantry. Nevertheless, the tradions were still alive and cossaks wore special uniforms and fur hats, rode horses and carried sabres. Of course, they parti...

Nope. There was a separate command, OB Suedost, for the troops on the Balkans, which, unfortunately, is not shown in the report that I quoted from. Those divisions belonged to the Italian theatre only.

Re: Pz. Div. Muencheberg records at NARA

Usually I avoid topics where flying pigs are involved, but this one is really going over the edge. George Nipe did some research for me at NARA a couple of weeks ago to help me gather materials for my next project. He did extensive searches in the archival holdings for Heeresgruppe Vistula and its 3...

The files of GenInspPzTr contain a detailed report submited by Guderian in regard of the reorganization and the readiness of the PzTruppen. It was dated 3/4 May 1943. Taking into account that Guderian was the Paris Hilton of the Third Reich, I wouldn't dare to say that he was resolutely against the ...
