Platoon Leader's Course at Dachau

I have a copy of an SS officer's personnel file and the date 31.01.1938 is listed for his attendance at the Platoon Leader's Course at Dachau and I was wondering if this was the start date for the course or the end date? I would also like to learn more about this course and what it entailed, any inf...

Army Cav. School at Potsdam/Krampnitz

Just a curiousity question regarding the Army Cavalry School. I have seen it written as Potsdam/Krampnitz and as Krampnitz bei Potsdam and I was curious which was correct. Thanks, John

Massacre at Oradour, by Robin Mackness

Hello,
Has anyone else read this book? It has an "interesting" account of the event, one I'm inclined to take with a grain of salt. Is there anything to this story? What would you guys recommend as the best book on the subject? Many Thanks,
John

He is a very knowledgable individual with regards to the LAH panzer regiment and he has an exact award date listed...It just doesn't make any sense to me. Mr.Agte must have had some reason for listing Poetschke among the me...

Ehrenblattspange?

Hello, I too have been researching Werner Poetschke and the LAH Pz.Reg. Patrick Agte has listed Werner as having been named to Army Honor Roll, but I have yet to find any independent verification on this. I have a copy of his complete officer's file and there is no mention there; I have looked at se...

1.SS-Pz.Reg. Kmdr.

Hello, I just wanted to elaborate a little further on that previous answer. Jochen Peiper was the commander until earlier August, when he was forced to take leave due to what has been variously described as a heart attack or combat fatigue. The commander of the first battalion, Herbert Kuhlmann, the...
