Wa.
Gentlemen, Does anyone have any clue what Wa. stands for on a German Supply chart? The complete line is "Wa. 126 (B)" It also has a little black triangular flag, with two boxes. I am assuming this unit is a battalion, with two companies, but the "Wa." is stumping me. I am thinkin...

Re: Effectiveness of German Infantry Divisions in Russia
I do take terrain into account in my analysis. Terrain plays a huge part. How much did the terrain favor the defender during the siege of Sevestopol? The Russians got a big boost from the terrain during Sevastopol and on the Volkhov. Number of artillery pieces, amount of air support, armor if any (f...

Effectiveness of German Infantry Divisions in Russia
Hello, I am trying to determine the relative effectiveness of German infantry divisions on the Eastern Front. So, I am looking for any instances where German infantry divisions were on the offensive without the support of Panzer or Mech/Motorized divisions. I can think of three offensives off the to...

Re: Interesting Book on Axis Signals Intelligence
Thanks so much for the link to your site. I quickly checked it out, and it looks very interesting. I will have to check it out more in depth later on. It is rather interesting that the Germans had a rather extensive codebreaking organizations, yet almost no one knows about them. Regards, Brian B.

Re: Interesting Book on Axis Signals Intelligence

I would highly recommend anyone who is interested in German Cryptanalisis and Crytograhy to check it out, as it is loaded with primary source info all of the German agencies that were involved in coding messages and codebreaking....

Interesting Book on Axis Signals Intelligence
Gentlemen, I found this book by accident as I was looking through the Barnes and Noble website. The name of it is "European Axis Signal Intelligence in World War II". It was published in October of 2010 from information that was only declassified in 2009 from the NSA and the Army Intellige...

Book Stores in Seattle
Well, it is nearly time for my yearly vacation. My wife and I are heading out to Seattle this year (in June), and I will want to visit as many of the book stores that sell WWII books as I can. Does anyone know of any decent bookstores in the Seattle area that sell WWII books? (I tried talking my wif...

OOB for Axis Collaboration Units
Hello Gentlemen, I am currently trying to compile a rough OOB for most (in not all) of the collaborationist units raised by the Germans in the second world war. I have the following sources in my library: Forgotten Legions: Obscure Combat Formations Of The Waffen-SS Eastern Troops in Zeeland, the Ne...

Map Question
Gentlemen, I am looking at making some of my own maps of the German units in the occupied countries in the summer of 1941. My question is, where do I find decent maps of the countries that were occupied by the Germans? I am looking for something part politcal map (shows some of the major cities) and...

Books shops in the D.C. area
Hi all,
I will be heading to the Washington D.C. area the last two weeks of June, and I am curious if there are any decent book stores that sell WWII books? I am not looking for the Barnes and Noble type stores. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Re: KTB OKW Band 1
Gentlemen, I have a question that is slightly off-topic. I noticed above that you were talking about "Keilig's Das Deutsche Heer". What exactly are these books? Give me a general description of what "Das Deutsche Heer" pertains too. I know the title translates as The German Army,...

Re: The Caucasus and the oil
I just finished reading a soft covered "study" from David Glantz dealing with the German advance into the Caucasus. It's about 243 pages in length. "Combat Documents and Chronology on the Battle for the Caucasus, Volume 1: 31 July - 18 November 1942" Here is a link to a website t...
