Mickey Mouse shows up on Galland's aircraft a lot of the time. http://members.aol.com/geobat66/galland/galland3.jpg Right behind Galland's left shoulder. Check this and this out. J.G.26, II./J.G.5, 3./L.G.2, & 4.(S)/L.G.2, I./Schlachtgeschw.4 all have poorly drawn versions of Micky Mouse as thei...

Its an expensive book, but there really isn't anything out there that compares to the depth of "Sturmgewehr". Its the best book on the subject so far. If you can handle the price and a ton of reading on the MP44, its the only way to go.

Brass flies all over the place with automatic weapons and even semi-auto. Why? Dunno, its just the nature of the beast I guess. There are so many variables with that kind of stuff...

Bored with the StG? Not yet... still a facinating weapon.

The button is a rod that goes through the rifle. When you press the button in on one side it exposes more of the button on the other side. Like maschinengewehr42 said the E and D markings are on the side of the button and missed in most pictures. Pressing the button exposes the letter of the mode of...

Well I've been reading "The Wehrmacht: History, Myth, and Reality" by Wette and so far its been pretty good if fitting into what I've already read about the crimes commited by the Wehrmacht on the Eastern Front. All things consdered, I'm interested in seeing what else might be published in...

Not all late war StuGs were equipped with the remote controlled MG mount. Often a round plate was bolted on instead of the RC MG mount. As per the norm with late war German industry it was a problem of actually suppling the RC mount in numbers.

Anyone read "The Wehrmacht: History, Myth, Reality"

Has anyone read "The Wehrmacht: History, Myth, Reality" by Wolfram Wette?

I saw the Enlish version in a bookstore recently and was wondering what others thought of it before I bought it.

In the case of the Heer and W-SS and mismatched camo, I would tend to think its more of a supply thing. There were always shortages of camo clothing so they wore what they got.

Confusion about Fallschirm StuG Brigades...

German Airborne Divisions: Mediterranean Theatre 1942-45 by Bruce Quarrie, has the following quote on page 35: “Corps troops included (for I. Fallschirm-Armee)… the Fallschirm-Sturmgeschutz Brigade 11. Incidentally, this had been created from the Fallschirm-Sturmgeschutz Brigade 1 der Luftwaffe and...

Looking for a good book store in Philadephia PA.

Hey everybody, I just moved to the Philly area and was wondering if anyone knew of a good military history book store in the area. Normally I wouldn't ask here, but google has proven to be worthless for me.

Any suggestions?

A number of weapons used by the German army were exported to revolutionary armies and rebels around the world after WW2 by the Eastern Bloc countries during the 50s and early 60s before the AK47 became readily available, just as the UK and the US sent obsolete weapons to the Afganistan (Enfields and...
