sorry folks i didnt have time to read all the posts on this thread but heres my two cents: What about more personal issues? An unimportant man suddenly given a uniform and rank through a system that deliberately tells him over and over again that he is superior would maybe feel superhuman and vent h...

thx for the invitation guys, I kinda knew i was going to be served a friendly dinner coz thats what i would do in that situation but i just had to ask to be sure. Strange coincidence: A rather shocking event occurred in Oslo city yesterday, and its all over the news: Some 40 year old Somalian refuge...

Yiha Y`know, i just have to say that i am very happy to live in a tranquil country as far as guns go. I mean, the Police officers over here arent allowed to carry one! Maybe its our mellow nature, but guns has not ever been that big a deal in our culture. I`ve actually fired one once (gasp) and i fo...

Germany would most likely have to keep a fairly large portion of troops in the occupied USSR due to frenzied partisan actions all over the country. And it is a LARGE slab of land to control, people, so i bet it would take a lot of manpower. The Luftwaffe would maybe fail miserably no matter what sta...

good point about generalization there. I think that in a lot of ways the opposition against americans in general over here in Scandinavia has gone a bit too far. It is always the politicians and industrial leaders/backmen et.al who are responsible. But only slightly so, because in a democracy there ...

I havent read the previous pages but `eres a suggestion; A nice, big budget film about the battle of Kursk, from an objective viewpoint. You could follow different personalities from both sides. Or any other major eastern front clash. That would make for some good action sequences, all the while sho...

Yeah I remember that scene. Awfully stupid.... So much so that I didnt even bother to get irritated. Now, Band of Brothers and Private Ryan did irritate me, especially since they both are heavily celebrated for being realistic. If you ask me, its the war according to Spielberg. Nice action sequences...

Well I`m not the ablest telemarkskiier in the country, I have to admit. I prefer those plastic disks with handles on both sides. Theyre superfast and impossible to control. Hilarious! As for the venerable Haakon, both he hand his son, Olav (who passed away some years ago and is regarded as the bona ...

4-5! My grandfather was a highly decorated partisan (terrorist? ) with the norwegian homefront, MILORG. Actually, theres a picture of him at the national war museum in Oslo. He and my grandmother (who had to flee to sweden in fear of being arrested, she was involved in various illegal activit...
