The German vets I have met:

Hello, I had a friend in Prattville, Alabama whose dad had served in the Hitler Jugend Div. His name was Mr. Fladüng. He is dead now. A great guy too. He still had his equipment, etc, and after he died his wife through it all in a dipsty dumpster. I remember his gasmask and canister and other stuff ...

Re: What were Hitler's plans for after the war?

Hello, It has always been my understanding that the order to halt and not anihilate the British at Dunkirk came from Hitler because at that early stage he was still hoping for an alliance with the British, or at least some sort of understanding and non agression so he could deal with the Russians an...

Re: What were Hitler's plans for after the war?

ljadw, How do you know "The German Generals Talks" is/was a bunch of lies? I mean I don't know if they were lying or not, but am just curious. Much of what they said was very interesting. Hitler ditched his original high command in time due to the fact that they were too conservative and p...

Re: What were Hitler's plans for after the war?

I think his way of thinking, his mind, and his mentality changed as the war progressed. I had the book "The German Generals Talk" or something like that, where they interviewed his originial High Command, etc.. In the beginning they said he did not want to make enemies of England and Ameri...

Re: Rudi Salvermoser?

John, Furthermore, as for that crack about same old questions or insults! You have no idea what I might've wanted to talk to him about. I did not mean if he was dead or alive, but if he was still posting. Yeah, I could have checked the search thing, but beings as it has been ages since I have been o...

Re: Rudi Salvermoser?

John, Are you a moderatior? I did not mean it that way. I have not been on here for ages until recently and was just wondering if anyone was still corresponding with him, etc., because I really liked him and want to get back in touch with him. We corresponded for a while and had some interesting con...

Re: What were Hitler's plans for after the war?

I wonder if England and France had not have declared on Germany what would have happened? Had Hitler defeated Russia would he have been content? I too have read how he envisioned a treaty and cooperation with England and U.S. to keep the world stable and run things economically. I wonder if his thou...

Rudi Salvermoser?

Hello all,
I have not been any WWII boards in a long time, but there was a German veteran named Rudi Salvermoser that used to post here and/or elsewhere and I even corresponded with him a time or two. Is he still around?
Thanks,
Dave

Any book or just WWII?

Hello all,
Is this authors who published any books or just WWII books, etc.? Because I have a book that was published, "More Ghosts and Eerie Tales of Alabama" but since I did not renew my contract it is no longer available. I will go with another publisher in the future.

Plse trans. this song about gra'father who died in the WWII

Hello, Can anyone translate correctly this song please? I heard and saw this song on you tube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGM7dFTowsY ). The caption says it is a “Tribute to the Brave Nazi Soldiers”. They should change that for from what I understand it is a song by a group singing about how th...

Re: The Forgotten Soldier Movie Update

Hello all,
I would like someone like Sam Peckinpah (Cross of Iron) or Peter Jackson, who put so much realism and life into their movies, to make it.
Later,

Re: Is Guy Sajer still alive and well?

Thanks for posting the links. I remember a discussion or two about him. I was just wondering if he was still alive and well. The last I heard, several years ago, was that he, who lives in France, was disgusted with the French government and modern French politics and was very active in right wing po...

Is Guy Sajer still alive and well?

Hello all, I was just wondering, is Guy Sajer, the author of "he Forgotten Soldier", still alive and well? I corresponded with him several years ago but have since lost touch. I was just curious. That was such a good and touching book to me. If I remember correctly some said he was a fake ...
