These pictures however were in a set from a soldier who was involved in the attack on Poland all of which were dated 39 in the same handwriting.

While we enjoy all the other photos, here is a reminder of the price paid by millions in this war. Two photos from Poland show the horror, mothers sons. Two of the less graphic shots in my collection.

Were any of the Mtn divisions by any chance based in Ingolstadt? It is fairly close to the Czech border where apparently some of the other pictures were taken. The more senior officer on the right with gray hair in this photo from an earlier post sure looks like the officer on the station platform. ...

These guys apparently kicked some butt in Poland and are now in route to France to do the same. I am told that it was common for troops to mark their rail cars.
