I also had quite a lot of difficulty reading the unit designations on the maps in the "Ost 1941 set" - for example the Ost 22 Jun 41A2 map. Is this something that might be fixed?

I think it would be a terrific idea. As far as the organization of maps goes, I don't think the two idea (geographical or chronological snapshot) are exclusive. If you want "There he was, holding off hordes of russians, whilst armed with a Luger and two handgrenades", then you'll be disappointed. Otherwise, it's still the best source on the German battles in that area.

I have long been puzzled by the concept of Luftaffe field units. I mean, if they were equipped as infantry, and fought as infantry, why not just transfer them to the Wehrmacht or Waffen SS?
