1st Infantry Division late '44
I have looked all over to no avail. Was the division still dependant on horse power when it arrived at Schirwindt east prussia in October 1944?

The German version was a copy of the Soviet PM 38 120 mm mortar, which in it's self was a copy of the French mortier Brandt de 120 mm modèle 1935. Good call. I can see some gulls on the collars. My reference to Heer was the entrenching tool and ammo pouches which were not standard FJ kit. The helmet also appears to be Heer.

I doubt they are Fallschrimjager as their kit appears to be Heer issue. They are part of the 4th MG Company......
