Hello experts of the forum,
I am searching informations on the "Dieppe Division" division during her final trial on the eastern front in 1944. Particularly, I'm trying to find the exact whereabouts of the division from january 1944 onwards.
Best regards.

Re: Blitzkrieg Unleashed: Poland 1939
The lack of Polish accounts is, for me, its main shortcoming. I can struggle by in German, French and Latin, but Polish is beyond my limited linguistic abilities, sadly. I hope that your well-written book will prompt a new span of interest in the Polish campaign of 1939 and thus, soon or later some...

Re: Blitzkrieg Unleashed: Poland 1939
Although I had had some difficult in finding Richard's book here in Italy, finally I bought and read "Blitzkrieg unleashed". I was by no mean disappointed by it. If Richard's goal was to let "imagine the reader he was there" (quoting his own words above), well, this objective has...

The Blitzkrieg Legend by Karl-Heinz Frieser. Don't know if this book has already been discussed on this forum, but I recommended it warmly.

Re: Last soldier of the k.u.k. Armee have died 107 years old
Rest in peace, Herr Künstler, old hero!
Incidentally, it's curious that he died in Bad Mergentheim, the same place where also k.u.k. feldmarschall Franz Conrad von Hötzendorf had passed away in 1925.

Re: Could the Romanian Debacle been avoided?
Hi Kim Sung, For example, Russia dispatched just three divisions to the Carpathian Front. And wouldn't things have been different if enough Russian forces had rapidly advanced along the Danube river into Dobrogea to protect Constanţa from Mackensen's multinational army? Massive Russian reinforcement...

Re: Could the Romanian Debacle been avoided?
Hi Sid, Bulgaria over 1912-1918 deserves an English language book. Despite fighting everyone in the Balkans in 1912-13, and going down to a very expensive defeat, it still managed to have an influential military role in 1915-16 and to compete with better equipped Anglo-French troops at Salonika in 1...

Re: General WW One German or AH Histories
Hello All, For a long time I've searched for a good introduction to the World War One German experience and to that of Austria-Hungary as well. Does anyone know a good book or two that will covers these areas? While we're at it, anyone know any general intros to Italy during the Great War? Thanks i...

Re: Could the Romanian Debacle been avoided?
Hi Kim, in my opinion, Romania's intervention might have been decisive in spring 1915. A joint entry of both Italy and Romania would have caused the collapse of Austria-Hungary and a decisive outcome of the war in the East and Balkan theatres. In the strategic situation of 1916, Romania was simply d...

Re:
Hitler only seemed able to avoid such an evolution, in spite of the endeavours made by the generals, the SS and the establishment in 1943 to persuade him to sign an armistice with USSR and to win, this way, the war in a single gulp. Now the problem is: why? Probably because, in my opinion, despite ...

Re: Barbarossa and the Preventative War... again
Richard, Joe, thanks you for the informations! Yes, I've checked Musial's books on amazon.de and they look very interesting, especially THIS http://www.amazon.de/Genesis-Genozids-1939-1941-Klaus-Michael-Mallmann/dp/3534180968/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1211009271&sr=1-4 Speaking of w...

369th Infantry Division in Jugoslavia (Winter 1943)
Hi folks, I'm searching details about the 369th Infantry Division during the Winter 1943 offensive against the Jugoslav partisans. I'm searching for maps showing the movements and the disposition of the unit's regiment during the campaign as well as details on losses. Is there any published history ...

Re: Barbarossa and the Preventative War... again
Hi Richard....very, very interesting! Thanks for the link! Well, the book is a new release, I am confident they will translate it into English soon or later; if not, we simply must read it in German! :[] Do you know something more about the author, Musial? By the way, I am very skeptical abou...
