Hi Bladerunner
many thanks for the information. Do you have a particular source for this material. I am very interested in Von Oppen's activities during the latter stages of the war, as I understand he took a key role in minimizing damage and fatalities....
Cheers
Duncan

18th SS Armee Korps - 1945
Hi
I am looking for information on this unit, which was in the South West of Germany (Freiberg - Blackforest region) at the end of the war, in particular any information on General Rudolf von Oppen.
Many thanks
Duncan

Hi One of the difficulties of translating German, is that often words are written together. Seitengewehr means side-arm or bayonet. Scheide means sheath (it can also mean the female anatomy!). I would therefore assume it is the sheath or cover of a bayonet, that would hang from the soldier (on the s...

Jason Have there been significant changes in how the forum is being managed? Several posts seemed to have disappeared - what happened to all the "stickies"? They don't show anymore, I asked about the updates - auction and whats new but got no reply? I read all posts regularly, but may have...

Hi
The following website has a list of the POW camps in the UK, which may be of help for people trying to "narrow" searches, identify locations, names etc.
