Thank you for replies in some of my posts. I have been writing a novel on world war II and I am trying very hard to keep it historically accurate.

Re: Advice for new author
My work is fiction based on stories that I have heard from my relatives that are American and German. Regretably, I should have started this research 20 years ago when these vets were in their sixties instead of their eighties; my work would have been non-fiction based on my family's experience on b...

Advice for new author
Hello all: I am not published yet, but I an finishing up a novel here in next couple of months. My work is fiction and set in WW2 in Europe. I have the following questions: 1. Do I need to get an editor? 2. Do I need to get an agent? 3. Is there still a market for this genre? 4. Do you recommend any...

Re: Everyday life for the soldier in Russian winter
Rolf: I can only imagine myself. I live in iowa in the USA and tonight it is getting to negative 20 degrees F. I was in the the military and was in the field in the winter time and it is no picnic. I couldn't imagine what the wehrmacht went through in Russia. If you have no shelter from the cold, th...

Everyday life for the soldier in Russian winter
Anybody done any research on the day to day life of the German soldier in Russia? Did they sleep in tents, no tents, captured buildings, etc? Thanks!

Re: Mein Kreig
For those that don't know what it is...it is a German documentary of six German soldiers that took video cameras to the Russian front and it accompanies personal commentary. I found excerpts on youtube and got interested and would like to find the documentary in its entirety.

Re: Interview with great uncle
Thanks for the replies. He is my last surviving relative that has such history directly. I was late in the game discovering some of these things. I went to Germany last year and found out that all of my veteran relatives had already died. I got some stories, but not first hand accounts. Thank you to...

Re: Wehrmacht Songs/marches wanted
What a great site!!! Being an American and serving my country in battle, in the Gulf war and in Iraq 2004-2005, I grew up with a greatgrandfather who fought for germany in WWI and an American grandfather who fought in WWII. I idolized both armies as a child. Thank you for the replies!!
